Abstract

A curable composition which comprises a cationically polymerizable compound and a cationic-polymerization initiator represented by the general formula (1). It is characterized by giving a cured object which has a change in Young's modulus of 1.0-1.5 through 48-hour holding at 121°C or at 121°C and 100% RH. This curable composition enables an optical device to be kept bonded over long, without causing troubles such as formation of a salt with an alkali metal, metal corrosion, and separation even in a high-temperature environment or high-temperature high-humidity environment. Also provided is an optical device made with the curable composition.
