Abstract
There is a problem of a space recognition device that cannot be provided to sufficiently detect a position where an obstacle exists without misrecognition even in the case where the obstacle is in the far distance. To cope with this, the present space recognition device is comprised of a detecting means for detecting the position of a moving object from a video image picked up by a camera, a memory means for storing a value in a memory area corresponding to each position of a subject region where the camera picks up an image, an adding means for adding a predetermined value to the memory area corresponding to the position of the moving object, and an obstacle scope calculating means for outputting information of the position corresponding to the one of the memory areas that stores a threshold value or less as an obstacle scope, so that the obstacle can be detected.
