Abstract

The invention aims at decomposing fibrous asbestos into massive one. In the invention, an asbestos decomposing agent is used, which contains as the main component an aqueous solution of a polysulfide prepared by ionic bonding of an alkali metal substance with sulfur. The invention also provides a process for decomposition of asbestos by coating or impregnating an asbestos-containing material to be treated with an asbestos decomposing agent containing as the main component an aqueous solution of a polysulfide prepared by ionic bonding of an alkali metal substance with sulfur to decompose the asbestos contained in the material.
