Abstract
A novel catalyst for the decomposition of nitrous oxide with which nitrous oxide can be efficiently decomposed and removed; and a method of purifying a gas containing nitrous oxide with this catalyst. The catalyst for nitrous oxide decomposition comprises (A) at least one element selected among alkali metals, magnesium, alkaline earth metals, and rare earth metals or a compound thereof and (B) at least one element selected among nickel, cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, silver, ruthenium, rhodium, platinum, gold, palladium, and iridium or a compound thereof. It has a pore volume of 0.10-0.60 mL/g.
