Abstract

A package is described which incorporates a folded leaflet bearing more information than can be provided on the available surface of the package. The leaflet is applied to the inside surface of the package and is held in place by two separate glued sheet components. The first of these is primarily designed to retain and protect the leaflet, whilst the second allows the leaflet to be easily withdrawn for inspection when required. The completed package may be in the form of either a closed carton or an open ended sleeve.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 09 December 2008 (09.12.08)+ STATEMENT
1. A package containing an information bearing leaflet in which retention means are provided to retain and protect the leaflet on the inside surface of the package and in which extraction means separate from the leaflet are provided to allow easy withdrawal of the leaflet from the package without disturbing the contents. Retention and extraction means are separate from the packaging blank and are applied during or just before the folding and gluing stage of package production.
2. A package as in claim 1 in which the retention means is in the form of a cover sheet attached to that face of the package which is uppermost during the folding and gluing of the package assembly.
3. A package as in claims 2 in which the cover sheet is in the form of a pre-glued label.
4. A package as in claims 2 in which the cover sheet is in the form of a paper sheet to which glue is applied during the package assembly.
5. A package as in claims 1 - 4 in which the extraction means is applied to the package face, to the leaflet and to the cover sheet and is provided with a glue pattern such that it is attached at least in part to the package and to the leaflet and is not attached to the cover sheet although it may come into contact with it, and is further provided with perforations such that the extraction means may be separated into two parts, one of which remains attached to the package and one of which is used to withdraw the leaflet from beneath the cover sheet.
6. A package as in claim 5 in which the extraction means is in the form of a pre-glued and perforated label dispensed from a roll.
7. A package as in claim 5 in which the extraction means is in the form of a suitably glued and perforated extension of the retention means.
8. A package as in claims 1 - 7 in which the package is in the form of an open ended sleeve
