Abstract

A receptacle type connector (1) exhibiting enhanced strength against gouging comprises a tubular shell (4), an insulation housing (3) having a body section (3a) arranged in the shell on the end side thereof and coupled to the shell and a substantially planar projection (3b) projecting toward the tip in the shell, and a contact (2) having the tip side supported by the projection and the end side supported by the body section. The shell (4) is made of a sheet of metal plate and has a first piece (411) projecting from one (4a) of two edges being put together when the metal plate is bent and a second piece (412) projecting from the other edge (4b), and a fixed arm (413) extending further from the first projection piece in the direction intersecting the extending direction of the first projection piece wherein the fixed arm (413) is wound around the second projection piece (412) to wrap the insulation housing (3) such that the first and second projection pieces are put together each other.
