Abstract

Disclosed is a method for supplying combustion gas to an internal combustion engine. In said method, a permanently substantially constant amount of fully pressure, moisture, and/or temperature-conditioned combustion gas is fed, said amount corresponding to the amount consumed at least under full load, combustion gas that is not needed is directed past the internal combustion engine, and the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine is mixed with a diluent gas and is preferably suctioned off in a constant volume flow. In order to be able to adjust as flexibly as possible and freely predefine the pressure conditions in and around the engine or the mass ratios of the suction, bypass, and exhaust gas flow, the proportion of the combustion gas that is fed to the internal combustion engine is regulated independently of the load state of the internal combustion engine. For this purpose, the device for supplying conditioned combustion gas to an internal combustion engine (1) comprises a supply pipe (5) to the internal combustion engine (1). Said supply pipe (5) extends from a conditioning system (4) and is provided with a connection (11) to the surroundings of the internal combustion engine (1). A first throughput regulating mechanism (14) is provided between said connection (11) and the internal combustion engine (1).
