Abstract

The invention relates to a burner device (10) for burning liquid fuel, comprising an atomising nozzle for mixing the liquid fuel with combustion air, to form a flammable gas mixture and with a flame separator (26) for stabilising a flame burning the gas mixture. The flame separator is arranged in the vicinity of the nozzle outlet to prevent a coking of the nozzle. The claimed arrangement permits the flame root to be shifted back towards the nozzle and thus increasing the temperature of the nozzle to above the coking limit.
