Abstract

The toilet ventilation system (100a and 100b) has at least one toilet seat (12) with a plurality of apertures (16) disposed in the bottom surface of the toilet seat (12). A vacuum pump pumps air from the toilet bowl through the toilet seat apertures (16) and into a vacuum pump unit (22) located external to the toilet seat (12). The vacuum pump unit (22) has a charcoal filter that filters the air and removes any noxious odors. The ventilation system also includes control circuitry and a plurality of sensors that automatically start and stop the vacuum pump and selectively deactivate the electrical components in the toilet seat (12).
