Abstract

 本発明の課題は、尿素水からアンモニアが生成されるのに十分な反応時間を確保しながらもパティキュレートフィルタ5及び選択還元型触媒6のコンパクトな配置を実現して車両への搭載性を向上することにある。排気管4の途中にパティキュレートフィルタ5を備え、その下流側に酸素共存下でも選択的にNOxをアンモニアと反応させ得る選択還元型触媒6を備え、該選択還元型触媒6と前記パティキュレートフィルタ5との間に還元剤として尿素水を添加し得るように構成した排気浄化装置に関し、パティキュレートフィルタ5と選択還元型触媒6とを並列に配置し、パティキュレートフィルタ5の後端部から排出された排気ガス3を前方に折り返して隣の選択還元型触媒6の前端部に導入するS字構造の連絡流路9を設け、該連絡流路9の途中に尿素水添加用インジェクタ11を備える。
