Abstract

A process for the production of aromatic polycarbonate resin pellets, characterized in that the phenol content of the cooling water used in cooling and/or cutting melt-extruded strands of an aromatic polycarbonate resin is 2.0ppm or below; and a process for the production of aromatic polycarbonate resin pellets which comprises the step of cooling melt-extruded strands of an aromatic polycarbonate resin in the first cooling zone and the step of feeding the cooled strands and cooling water to a strand cutter to cut the strands and then subjecting the obtained pellet/water slurry to separation in the second cooling zone under cooling, characterized in that the temperature (t1) of the first cooling zone is adjusted to a temperature falling within the range of the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the polycarbonate resin minus 90°C to Tg minus 60°C and the temperature (t2) of the second cooling zone is adjusted to a temperature falling within the range of Tg minus 90°C to Tg minus 50°C, with the temperature t2 being equivalent to or higher than the temperature t1 (t1 ≤ t2).
