Definitions
- the invention relates to an electrical connector according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a generic electrical connector is previously known for example from EP 1 312 137 Bl.
- the wire connection contacts are formed by two rows of insulation displacement contacts, which are arranged parallel to the side edges of the connector at the back.
- the connector Due to the necessary distance between the two rows, the connector is relatively wide, which limits the number of installable connectors when installing the connector in fixed-sized fixtures such as 19 "panels.
- the invention is therefore based on the technical problem of providing a connector which can be made narrower by the width dimensions.
- the electrical connector comprises resilient RF contacts and wire connection contacts, wherein the RF contacts and the wire connection contacts are electrically connected to each other, at least the RF contacts are arranged in a housing having a receiving connector for a mating connector, and the wire connection contacts are arranged in two parallel rows, wherein adjacent wire terminals of a row have a smaller distance than wire terminals of different rows, wherein the housing has a top edge, bottom edge and has two side edges, wherein the two rows of wire connection contacts are arranged parallel to the upper edge of the housing.
- the wire connection contacts are designed as insulation displacement contacts.
- paired core connection contacts of a row are aligned parallel to one another, whereas adjacent core connection contacts of different contact pairs are arranged in a row rotated by 90 ° about the longitudinal axis of the wire connection contacts. This reduces the capacitive coupling between adjacent contact pairs, which has been increased by the reduction of the distance.
- the distance b or b 1 between contacts of a contact pair is smaller than the distance c or c 1 between contacts of different contact pairs.
- opposite wire connection contacts of different rows are at 90 ° to the Longitudinal axis of the wire connection contacts arranged rotated to each other. This reduces the capacitive coupling between the contacts of different rows, which also reduces crosstalk.
- the HF contacts and the core connection contacts are arranged on a common printed circuit board.
- the longitudinal axes of the wire connection contacts are aligned parallel to the surface of the circuit board.
- the wire connection contacts are connected via SMD-like contacts to the circuit board.
- the electrical connector is designed as RJ45 socket.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an RJ45 socket in a first embodiment (prior art according to DE 20 2005 001 178 Ul),
- Fig. 2 is a rear view of an RJ45 socket according to another
- Fig. 3 is a rear view of an inventive
- Connectors, 4a is a perspective view of a connector according to the invention without housing
- Fig. 4b is a perspective view of a connector according to Fig. 2 without housing (prior art) and
- Fig. 5 is a rear view of the connector of Fig. 4a.
- FIG. 1 an RJ45 socket according to the prior art as an electrical connector 1 is shown.
- the connector 1 comprises a housing 2, which has a receiving opening 3, in which RF contacts 4 are arranged, which can be contacted by a mating connector.
- the housing has an upper edge 5, a lower edge 6 and two side edges 7.
- two rows 8, 9 of wire connection contacts 10 are arranged, which are formed as insulation displacement contacts.
- the two rows extend parallel to a longitudinal edge 11 of the connector.
- the two rows 8, 9 have a predefined distance, which makes it possible to press wires 12 with a connection tool in the wire connection contacts 10.
- FIG. 2 shows an alternative design according to the prior art.
- the two rows 8, 9 are not arranged on the top of the connector, but on the back.
- the two rows 8, 9 are arranged parallel to the side edges and at right angles to the upper edge 5.
- the drawn in Fig. 1 upper edge 5, lower edge 6 and side edges 7 do not coincide with the edges as shown in Fig. 2, since these are two different types and the visible edges of the front and back are different. But this is not critical, since it is only about the parallelism to the edges.
- the distance a between the rows 8 and 9 is dimensioned such that the wire connection contacts 10 can be connected by a Anschalttechnikmaschinemaschine.
- each row 8, 9 comprises four wire connection contacts 10, which are each assigned in pairs, wherein the wire connection contacts 10 of an associated pair are separated by a rib 13, wherein adjacent wire connection contacts 10 of different pairs are spaced from each other by a wide web 14.
- the width c of the web 14 is greater than the width b of the rib 13. Due to the large distance between the wire connection contacts 10 different contact pairs while the crosstalk is reduced.
- the connector 1 according to the invention is now shown in a rear view.
- the rows 8, 9 are now aligned parallel to the upper edge 5, wherein the width b 'of the ribs 13 and / or the width c 1 of the web 14 is smaller than the width b or c shown in FIG. 2 can be selected.
- the web 14 also simultaneously forms a rib for the insulation displacement contacts.
- the reduction of the width b 1 and / or c 1 can be used directly to make the connector 1 narrower.
- the distance a 1 between the rows 8 and 9 is chosen to be at least as large as the distance a shown in FIG. 2, so that the wiring remains possible with a placement tool.
- the associated core connection contacts 10 of a contact pair of a row 8, 9 are again aligned parallel to each other.
- adjacent wire connection contacts of a row 8 or 9, which do not belong to the same contact pair are now arranged rotated through 90 ° about the longitudinal axis of the wire connection contacts 10. This reduces the capacitive coupling between these contacts.
- opposing wire connection contacts 10 of different rows 8, 9 are also arranged rotated by 90 ° about the longitudinal axis of the wire connection contacts 10 to each other. This reduces the capacitive coupling and thus the crosstalk between the wire connection contacts of different rows 8, 9.
- FIG. 4a the connector 1 according to FIG. 3 is shown in perspective without housing. Accordingly, the connector 1 according to FIG. 2 is shown in perspective without a housing in FIG. 4b.
- the connector 1 comprises eight insulation displacement contacts K31-K38, which are combined in pairs. In this case, K31, K32; K33, K36; K34, K35 and K37, K38 each a pair of contacts.
- the insulation displacement contacts K31, K32, K37, K38 thereby form row 8 (see FIG. 3) and the insulation displacement contacts K33-K36 the series 9 (see FIG. 3).
- the insulation displacement contacts K31-K38 are connected to the circuit board 40 via SMD-like contacts 39.
- the RF contacts K21-K28 are arranged in the front region of the printed circuit board 40.
- the RF contacts K21-K28 are also connected via SMD-like contacts 41 to the circuit board 40.
- the insulation displacement contacts K31, K32, K37, K38 are located further away from the circuit board 40 and thus the contact length to the circuit board 40 is greater.
- the connections of the insulation displacement contacts K31, K32 or K37, K38 to the circuit board 40 are crossed. Furthermore, it can be seen that the longitudinal axes L of the insulation displacement contacts K31-K38 are parallel to the surface of the circuit board 40. Furthermore, it can be seen clearly that the insulation displacement contacts of a contact pair are each aligned parallel to each other, whereas adjacent insulation displacement contacts (eg K31 and K38) of different pairs of a row by 90 ° are arranged rotated about the longitudinal axis L to each other. The same applies to vertically opposed insulation displacement contacts of different series (eg K32 and K33). The RF contacts K21-K28 are biased and guided by a comb member 42.
- the inner RF contacts K22-K27 are bent alternately to each other.
- the two outer RF contacts K21, K28 are formed mechanically longer, which have a short, electrically effective contact point where the RF contact 21, 28 rests resiliently against a contact point on the circuit board 40. This electrical contact point is below the comb element 42 and is therefore not visible.
- the housing is preferably formed in two parts, wherein the housing part, which receives the insulation displacement contacts K31-K38, movably connected to the other housing part is that defines the receiving opening for the mating connector.
- the circuit board 40 is fixedly mounted in the housing part of the insulation displacement contacts K31-K38.
- the longitudinal axis L 1 of the insulation displacement contacts K31'-K38 ' is perpendicular to the surface of the circuit board 40'. Furthermore, the insulation displacement contacts K31 1 - K38 1 are connected via solder pins to the circuit board 40, as are the RF contacts K21'-K28 ', which are not all visible. Since, in the embodiment according to FIG.
- the end face 45 is parallel to the upper edge 5 of the housing, it can be seen that the row formed by the cutting edge Clamping contacts K31 1 , K32 1 , K37 1 and K38 1 or the row, which is formed by the insulation displacement contacts K33'-K36 ', perpendicular to the top edge 5 and parallel to the side edge or surface 46 of the circuit board 40 'is.
- the rows in the embodiment of FIG. 4a are aligned parallel to the upper edge 5 (see FIG. 3).
- a virtual line 50 is shown in FIG. 5, which corresponds to the orientation of the row 8 from FIG. 3.
- the insulation displacement contacts K31-K38 are electrically connected to one another at the end (eg K35 with K25) with the HF contacts K21-K28, preferably via conductor tracks on the printed circuit board 40.
