Abstract
The disclosed Lounge Baby Guard is intended to be made from a plastic framework to create a strong enough barrier that secures to a lounge/couch or sofa, with the use of locking mechanisms and plastic mesh/gauze to prevent babies from rolling/falling or crawling off the lounge and hurting themselves. This barrier has additional barriers attached to the main barrier to form closure against the back of the lounge, so that there is no chance of a baby climbing over the side arms of lounge. These other barriers also help it to provide enough closure that when the barrier is taken off the seating position of the lounge it can be placed in a way it can be used as a play pen. This invention folds and stores underneath the lounge for convienence of non use.

SPECIFICATIONS
LOUNGE BABY GUARD
[1] For many years parents/carers of infants have found common practise in feeding, getting to sleep, or just setting their baby down on a lounge, couch or sofa. This is mainly common practise because of convenience. When the child is able to move or roll by themselves, it creates a huge risk to the Childs safety by having them on the lounge without some sort of supervision or protection. If the child rolls or falls off the lounge there can be severe damages to the child's health.
[2] This mechanical/human necessity invention is to provide a safe guard/barrier that can be easily erected from storing underneath a lounge/couch/sofa to protect a child from rolling, crawling or falling off a lounge and hurting themselves.
[3] The guard/barrier can be made from many sorts of materials including metal, plastic, wood, fabric, etc. anything that provides enough structural strength to restraint a baby/ infant to the cushions or seating position of a lounge/couch/sofa. This has been so far designed with telescopic adjustments on the structure to reduce size to fit and store underneath most lounge, couch or sofas. And a unique locking mechanism at the bottom of the main barrier to lock the barrier hard up against the lounge from the resistance of the angle that remains under the legs of the lounge.
[4] The angle that remains underneath the legs of the lounge is what provides strength to resist the guard/barrier from being pushed off the lounge, along with the locking mechanism at the base of the barrier where the main pivoting occurs. This provides enough strength to restrain a baby or infant to the seating position of the lounge, couch or sofa. This guard/barrier can have side barriers to lock at right angles and sit on the lounge or it can be folded to sit on the floor locking the side barriers to right angles to form a play pen in front of the lounge as a second purpose for the product. The Side barriers can also be telescopically adjustable. The barrier can have see through plastic mesh/gauze or any other material to not obstruct the child's vision of eg. TV, other people in the room. Etc. The frame work can be made from many shapes ie; cylindrical, tubular. Etc.
[5] This invention can be better understood with reference to the included engineered drawings of the lounge baby guard.
[6] FIGURE 1: shows the Lounge baby guard fully erect & secure to a lounge
[7] FIGURE 2: is of the unique locking mechanism designed specially for this product.
This product can be made with any type of locking mechanism as long as it is strong enough to meet reasonable standards.
[8] FIGURE 3: is of the lounge Baby Guard folded down ready for storing underneath
the lounge.
[9] FIGURE 4: is of the Lounge Baby Guard in position to be used as a play pen.
[10] Desired materials for this product/Invention would be plastic framework joined by plastic moulded joiners with a see through baby safe plastic mesh or screen. Anything that provides enough strength to meet all standards required for licensing and marketable purposes.
