Abstract

The invention relates to a method for quasi-continuously determining the intratidal dynamic respiratory mechanics by means of the parameters basic dynamic pressure P0, flow resistance R, compliance C, inertance I, and the actual alveolar pressure Palv. In order to do so, a sliding analysis window is moved across the data record such that the parameters can be determined at virtually any resolution by means of multiple regression analysis, thus allowing the intratidal curves of said respiratory parameters to be determined quasi-continuously regardless of the form of ventilation used. According to the inventive method, respiratory test data is determined from a sliding window range of any size such that said respiratory test data is defined by a section of the volume axis or the pressure axis or the flow axis, and the data that is assigned to the window range is used for locally calculating the P0, R, C, I, and/or Palv. For this purpose, linear or non-linear functional curves are determined for the respective parameters such that a quasi-continuous curve of the respiratory parameters is obtained by sliding the window along the respective axis. Additionally, continuous stepless approximations of mathematical functions can be determined from the quasi-continuous parameter values.
