Definitions

  • the invention relates to a packaging system comprising a bottom part and a lid part for forming a closed foodstuff packaging having a first surface (A) and a second surface (B), wherein said bottom part comprises a preferably rectangular bottom panel with four sides and a front and an opposite rear side panel and two opposed end side panels, wherein each of the side panels has a length like that of the corresponding side on the bottom panel, and wherein the side panels comprise corner segments provided corresponding to the corners of the bottom panel; and wherein said lid part comprises a preferably rectangular lid panel with four sides and with a front and an opposite rear side panel and two opposed end side panels, wherein each of the side panels has length like that of the corresponding side of the lid panel; and wherein the side panels preferably comprise corner segments provided corresponding to the corners of the bottom panel and which are configured for cooperating with said bottom part for forming a closed packaging.
  • plastics is frozen in when the unfrozen commodity is packaged prior to the freezing procedure, said plastics bag being, when closed and arranged uppermost in the cardboard box in which the foodstuff is being frozen, pressed down into the unfrozen foodstuff which is hence caused to enclose it and, in its frozen state, retains the plastics therein. Therefore, when the foodstuff is thus unpacked in its frozen state, this means that the plastics frozen in must be separated from the enclosing, frozen foodstuff by means of hammer and chisel. This is a resource-intensive method that requires manual handling and which further involves a risk of foreign objects in the foodstuff in the form of plastics or splinters from the tool.
  • the packagings must be stackable, while containing both frozen and unfrozen foodstuffs, requirements are made to the structure of the packaging, since the filled packaging must, following the freezing procedure, also be leak-proof for at least twelve hours after having been taken out of the freezer. Both of these require much of the configuration of the closed packaging.

  • “Exteriorly” is intended to designate that the corner segments are folded on that side of the side panels that faces away from the space that is formed by assembled packaging. This presents the exemplary advantage that frozen foodstuffs are unable to come into direct contact with the folded corners and thereby make it difficult to remove the completely or partially frozen foodstuffs from the packaging. If the corner segments were folded interiorly of the packaging, a fast-freezing could occur around them.
