Description
PORTABLE MIST SPRAYER FOR PESTICIDES AND LIQUID FERTILIZERS
SUITABLE FOR MULTIPLE USE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention, which constitutes an amendment of the GP No. 1004489, refers to a portable mist sprayer, which is suitable for spraying pesticides and liquid fertilizers, i.e. for agricultural use, but also for non- agricultural use. The above mist sprayer, is particularly handy, due its low carrying weight, and cost-saving with regard to the quantity of pesticide used and therefore it is also suitable for use with organic products. Moreover, its original design allows for the spraying of a large area in a very short period of time due to the ability of the sprayer to spray the spraying mist a great distance even in an upward direction.
DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART
Until today in the prior art of manufacture of portable mist sprayers, the sprayers were suitable for the spraying of small areas (yards etc.), and mechanical sprayers were dysfunctional, due to their heavy weight and structure, and moreover they had an increased cost of manufacture and operation. In particular the known prior art of mechanical portable sprayers is related to hand held sprayers consisting of an arm diffuser spray head dispersing the pesticide liquid which is connected to the motor and to the pesticide tank carried by the user on his back. These sprayers have the following disadvantages:
Firstly, they are very heavy and consequently they are very dysfunctional especially over large or inaccessible areas.
Secondly, they consume a large quantity of pesticide and therefore they have an increased operational cost and further ecological consequences. Thirdly, due to the construction of the sprayer, according to which the pesticide tank is usually located together with the motor at the back of the user, there are difficulties with regard to the cleaning of the sprayer parts and especially of the pesticide tank and there is a danger of pesticide leakage to the motor.
In order to solve all the above problems I invented a sprayer registered under GP No. 1004489.
My above invented and registered sprayer, although providing a solution to most of the problems of prior art, had the following disadvantages: First of all, although it had the ability of spraying significantly larger areas compared to the known sprayers, an increase in the air pressure inside the liquid had firstly to be achieved by a pump through a special valve, in order for upward spraying to be made. Due to the above the user had to stop the spraying in order to proceed with the above actions, a procedure which is time- consuming and very tiring.
Secondly, although the housing, within which the fluid tank is mounted, had an anatomic design, it supported the tank in a lower position with regard to the user and the sprayer, a fact which also contributed to the lack of sufficient pressure during the discharge of the spraying mist. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
All the above technical problems led me to an attempt to find a solution, the result of which is the object of the present invention.
In particular, the proposed sprayer, according to the present invention, is provided with an improved outlet discharging the spraying mist in order to achieve greater pressure of the spraying liquid during its discharge. Furthermore, it is provided with an improved redesigned housing, within which the liquid tank is mounted, in order for the tank to be located in an upper position compared to the previous tank and with only one valve and the appropriate shape to allow for continuous turbulence of the spraying liquid inside the tank to be achieved.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The present invention will be comprehensive to those skilled in the art, with reference to the accompanying drawings of the present specification, which indicatively show some industrially preferred embodiments of the present invention.
In particular, fig. 1 is a perspective view of the invented sprayer consisting of the arm - blower, the pesticide tank and the housing.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the invented sprayer and the additional fitting of the blower increasing the pressure of the spraying mist. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the pesticide tank. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the case within which the tank is mounted. The drawings show an example of the present invention. Hereinafter, same reference numbers of the main parts of the object refer to the corresponding reference numbers of those parts in the accompanying drawings. The parts are not depicted to scale but simply in dimensions proportional to one another.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS According to the selected indicative embodiment of the invention, the invented mist sprayer consists of a blower 1 and a pesticide tank 2 (see fig. 1). The blower 1 consists of three outlets: A standard outlet 3 of tubular shape and two additional outlets: An additional tubular outlet 4, the diameter of which shortens to its upper part, and an additional outlet 4a which has a smaller cross-section at its mid-part and a bigger at its two ends in order to achieve an increase of the pressure of the spraying mist.
The tank 2 is provided with a pesticide input outlet 8 of curved shape and is becoming smaller in length and width to its lower part. Due to the above shape of the tank 2 the continuous turbulence of the pesticide is achieved, a fact which contributes to the continuous existence of the correct proportion of pesticide and water in the tank during the spraying.
On the lower part of the one adjacent side of the tank 2, the pipe 11 of small cross-section is adjusted, extending up to the standard outlet 3 of the blower 1 (see fig. 1 , 2). When the additional outlet 4a is fitted the effusion of the pesticide is made through the additional outlet 4a. A hinge 12 is situated on the pipe 11 in order for the effused quantity of pesticide to be controlled.
The tank 2 is located to a special anatomic housing - case 13 in order to be easily carried on the back of the user. The case 13 covers the biggest part of the tank 2. On the upper front part of the case, there exist security belts 16 of the tank 2 and on the rear part two parallel parts 20 are adjusted, which are made of foam material and are slightly curved in order for the tank 2 to adjust as well as possible to the user's back. The parts 20 are adjusted to a low part
of the case 13 in order for the tank 2 to be situated at the highest possible position with regard to the user and therefore, in order for the content of the tank to be discharged having the largegest possible pressure.
Furthermore, in order for the blower 1 to be easily operated, said blower is supported by the belt 15 which is adjusted to the shoulder of the user.
In order for the mist sprayer to be operated, the user activates the blower 1 and at the same time opens the hinge in order for the pesticide to effuse inside the additional outlet 4a of the blower 1. The pesticide, which is under action of the air which flows through the outlet 4a with an outwards pressure, is converted to a mist of minute particles into the outlet 4a which are sprayed at a distance of several meters resulting in a wide area of many square meters being sprayed as the user walks. In this way costs are saved with regard to the quantity of the pesticide used and there is accuracy in spraying and virtually no pollution to the plants and the environment. It should also be noted that the object of the present invention should not be limited to the above described example and can be used for the spraying of any kind of liquid on plants. The accomplishment of this invention is also possible in other constructive ways, methods, fittings and machinery within the scope of the present specification.
