Abstract

The invention relates to a horizontal or inclined awning system provided with a retractable support. Said system comprises a box (3) formed by the handrail of a support rail (1) or a bench head rest and is used for containing an extendable flexible element (4) for protecting against sunshine. The box receives telescopic legs which are nested into the tubular posts of the support rail or the bench and make it possible to lift the box at a desired height in such a way that a portal frame is formed for supporting the sunshine-protecting flexible element (4). Said invention makes it possible to efficiently protect against sunshine a large terrace surface area in the summer season and to fold useless and unsightly structures during the winter season.
