Abstract

A method is disclosed for forming an article with template shaped channels 20 by (a) mixing a precursor 18 with a fibrous template 10, (b) forming the mixture into a pre-determined shape, (c) curing the mixture to form a precursor composite 19, (d) carbonizing the precursor composite, and (e) decomposing the fibrous template to yield a shaped carbon article 21 with template shaped channels 20.
