Abstract

The invention particularly relates to a hydroxylapatite/silicon dioxide granulate having a defined morphology, a highly porous bone replacement material based on said granulate, and a glass ceramics material as a bone replacement material, which is also based on said granulate and is characterized by variable mechanical stability. Also disclosed are molded articles made of said material. Preferably, materials having different mechanical stability are used in the molded article. The inventive bone replacement materials are characterized by good resorbability in vivo. The invention further relates to the use of the bone replacement material for osteoinduction, especially ectopic osteoinduction.
