Abstract

A method of facilitating transmission of downloadable content traffic and content traffic of another active content transport service session includes a plurality of operations. An operation is performed for determining a download bandwidth rate specification in accordance with which download traffic is to be transported over a prescribed network connection to a client system during simultaneous transport of the content traffic of another active content transport service session over the prescribed network connection to the client system. Thereafter, an operation is performed for transmitting a content download request for reception by a download server from which the download traffic is to be served. The content download request includes information for identifying the download traffic and information for enabling the download traffic to be transmitted in accordance with the download bandwidth rate specification.
