Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for machining workpieces having both out-of-round and rotation-symmetrical inner and outer contours on a rotating workpiece. At least one tool having a straight cutting edge engages with the workpiece. Said cutting edge is tilted by an angle α in relation to the rotational axis of the workpiece. The cutting edge is displaced about a swiveling axis performing a circular advance movement. During advance, the active site between the workpiece and the tool travels along the cutting edge and a feed motion between the workpiece and the tool produces the out-of-round inner and outer contours of the workpiece and/or evens out the contour variations of the workpiece caused by the shape of the cutting edge.
