Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for selecting an animal for milk protein yield using marker assisted selection, wherein said method comprises: (a) analyzing a nucleic acid sample from said animal for a polymorphism in at least one genetic marker selected from the group set out in Table 1 ; and (b) selecting the animal based on the presence or absence of the polymorphism in the at least one genetic marker, wherein the polymorphism is predictive of milk protein yield.
