Definitions
- the present invention generally relates to personal appliances. More specifically, the present invention is drawn to a device that permits a female to urinate while standing in an erect position.
- the disclosure is directed to a urination funnel for women.
- the urination funnel is comprised of a tapering member with an open distal end and an open proximal end and a pair of edges with respective exterior surfaces that define the open proximal end.
- a finger insert is positioned at the edge of each of the respective exterior surfaces. Each of the finger inserts extends approximately half the length of each of the respective edges.
- the disclosure is also directed to a urination funnel for women that has an accordion- type spout.
- the urination funnel comprises a tapered member with an open distal end, an open proximal end.
- An array of fold lines are disposed on the undersurface of the tapered member.
- a pair of edges with respective exterior surfaces define the open proximal end of the funnel.
- Finger inserts are positioned on the exterior surfaces of the proximal end of the urination funnel. Each of the finger inserts extends approximately half the length of each of the respective edges.
- the disclosure is further directed to a urination funnel for women that is fabricated from liquid impermeable material and has an open proximal end that is configured to cover a female's vaginal area.
- An array of fold lines are disposed on the undersurface of the funnel, and a pair of edges with respective exterior surfaces define the open proximal end of the funnel. Finger inserts are positioned at the edge of each of the respective exterior surfaces so that each of the finger inserts extends approximately half the length of each of the respective edges.
- Fig. 1 is an environmental, perspective view of a first embodiment of a urination funnel for women according to the present invention.
- Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a second embodiment of a urination funnel for women according to the present invention.
- Fig. 3 is a bottom view of the first embodiment of a urination funnel for women according to the present invention.
- Fig. 4 is a top view of a third embodiment of a urination funnel for women according to the present invention.
- Fig. 5 is a side view of a packaged first embodiment of a urination funnel for women according to the present invention.
- Fig. 6 is a side view of a packaged third embodiment of a urination funnel for women according to the present invention. Similar reference characters denote corresponding features consistently throughout the attached drawings.
- the present invention is drawn to a disposable urination funnel for women that facilitates urination by a female from an erect or upright position.
- the device employs soft, rounded edges and incorporates finger inserts to permit the user to hold the device against her body with sufficient pressure to form a seal without discomfort and without the unpleasant feel of an adhesive.
- the device can be folded or collapsed for convenient, individual packaging and can easily be carried in a purse, pocket or fanny pack.
- the device is folded in a manner that requires only finger manipulation to unfold it for use. A choice of a long or short spout will be available. The advantages of choosing one or the other will be explained below.
- Another embodiment utilizes an accordion design.
- the device is contoured to conform to the vaginal region of the female anatomy. While flexible to a degree, the material must have enough rigidity to insure that the spout can be maintained in a direction away from the user.
- the instant invention presents a disposable, compact device, which device will facilitate urination by a female in a standing position.
- the invention provides for improved elements and arrangements thereof for the purposes described which are inexpensive, dependable and folly effective in accomplishing their intended purposes.
- FIGs. 1 and 2 show a first and second embodiment of a urination funnel for women of the present invention, generally indicated at 10.
- the device comprises a funnel-shaped member 12 having a spout portion 12a.
- Spout portion 12a terminates in a smaller, open distal end 14.
- Proximal end 16 is larger than distal end 14 and is fashioned to open into a funnel bowl with an opening 19 configured to cover a woman's vaginal area.
- a pair of finger inserts 18 is positioned on the exterior surfaces along opposite edges of opening 19.
- the inserts 18 extend at least approximately half of the length of the edges.
- Member 12 and inserts 18 are fabricated from liquid impervious material, which material is rigid enough to insure that the spout 12a remains pointed in the desired direction.
- the device In its pre-use state, the device is folded along fold lines 17 (Fig. 3) disposed on the undersurface of member 12 and spout 12a. Only finger manipulation is required to unfold the device for use. When opened for use, fold lines 17 are manipulated to create an inclined floor, which floor functions to direct urine toward spout 12a and prevent overflow.
- Inserts 18 are attached to the funnel 10 in a manner to allow insertion of the middle and index fingers so that the fingers apply pressure to the vaginal area to seal the device thereagainst and also direct the distal end 14 downward toward the desired direction.
- the device of Fig. 1 has a longer spout 12a than that of Fig. 2, thereby allowing a user to stand further from the toilet, if desired.
- a third embodiment of the invention employs an accordion-type runnel 20 having an accordion-type spout 20a Spout 20a terminates in an opening 22.
- Funnel 20 and spout 20a can be quickly and easily pulled from a collapsible position to assume a use position, as illustrated.
- all embodiments are adaptable, when folded, for individual packaging, as indicated at 24 in Figs. 5 and 6.
- the packages may be obtained from vending machines or the like.
