Description
"CONSTRUCTIONAL PROVISIONS APPLIED IN KEELS FIXATION CUP ON SURF BOARDS" Field of the invention
This detailed description refers to an innovative keel's fixation cup in surfboards, developed to facilitate the insertion and removal of the keels. The device refers more specifically to a development pertaining to the nautical industry field having as a main characteristic a new assembly that allows fixation and removal of the keels in the cup of the surfboard, and enables a precise and better fixation of the keels, as well as reduces the possibility of wear of the angular screw conventionally used. Background of the invention
Traditionally there are known and utilized two types of surfboards. The first one comprehends a board where the fixation of the keels occurs at the bottom in a permanent form, by means of the utilization of fiberglass, resin and catalyzer, whose major inconvenient is the impossibility of repairing the board in case of damage in the keels.
The second type consists in a surfboard that utilizes fixing cups installed in its bottom, which assures different repairs possibilities and keels models changing, and also facilitates the transportation.
According to this, the bottom rear of the surfboards receive one or more fixation cups for each keel, and the installation is made by the drilling of a hole with the dimension a little superior compared to the cup, followed by its insertion in the hole and finally the fulfilling of the remaining space with special resin, obtained according to the cup and surfboard materials.
Another characteristic of this system is that the
Keels' cups have proper recesses for bolts with reasonable size that extend from the keel's base and are fastened in the board using pressure, attrition, screws or other way.
Despite the large use of this assembly, it certainly presents at least two major inconvenients. The first occurs when the keels are manufactured with bolts that perfectly fit in the cups. This t leads to a major difficulty in the keel's replacement and retreat because the surface of the board can not be used for lever up support in case of damage of the board, by causing points with water infiltration or even displacement of the fixation cup.
The second inconvenient consists in the fact that some keels are produced with bolts that are perfectly cased to the cup by using an angle screw, and after a certain time of use it implies the waste in the bolt fixation point, causing the breakage and loss of the keel or still the impossibility of obtaining the correct fixation by the wear of the material.
In previously developed surfboards, the fixation cup has singular section recesses, provided with serrate in its internal wall as described in the utility model patent application, MU 8302732-7, but the keel fixation cup still requires the use of an angular screw, and the referred improvement does not solve in definite the waste problem when the keels need to be substituted. Summary of the Invention
In order to solve one or more of the mentioned problems, the fixation cup of the present invention was developed and projected to allow the best fixation of the keels in the cup, facilitating the substitution for different keels according to the need of the surfer in the sport practice or in the board transportation, introduced as a low cost option compared to the models known in
the market.
The object of the present patent describes a single block keel fixation cup, comprised of a hollow internal concave structure equipped with a section with metallic threading vertically disposed on its base, whose internal wall sliding in angle allows overlapping of a convex moving wedge for support and fixation of the screw which is vertically introduced.
The wedge has a through hole on the upper surface, where the fastening screw is introduced and also an oblong hole perpendicular to it, which together allow the keel to be fixed to the cup by a coupling pin.
The coupling pin is fitted into the oblong hole of the wedge and has the main function of promoting the correct adjustment of the keel to the fixation cup. The keel's base has a sliding cavity in angle that allows the correct insertion of the keel in the fixation cup. Brief description of the drawings

Regarding the above illustrations, the illustrated keel fixation cup on surf boards is shown. The cup (1) keel fixing single block is comprised of a hollow internal concave structure (2) equipped with a section (3) with metallic threading (4) vertically disposed on its base, whose internal wall sliding in angle allows overlapping of a convex moving wedge (5) of support and fixation of the screw (6) introduced vertically.
The wedge (5) has a through hole (7) on the upper surface, where the fastening screw (6) is introduced and an oblong hole (8) perpendicular to it, which together allow the keel (9) to be fixed to the cup (1) by a coupling pin (10).
The coupling pin (10) is fitted into the oblong hole (8) of the wedge and has the main function of promoting the correct adjustment of the keel (9) to the fixation cup (1). The keels (9) have in their base a sliding cavity
(11 ) in angle for the correct adjustment of the coupling pin (10).
This way the subject of the application refers to a cup for fixation of removable keels in surfboards that allow their change due to the waste or according to the need of the sport
practitioner.

APPLIED IN KEEL FIXATION CUP ON SURF BOARDS" is characterized by cup (1) keel fixing single block comprised of a hollow internal concave structure
(2) equipped with a section
(3) with metallic threading
(4) vertically disposed on its base, whose internal wall sliding in angle allows overlapping of a convex moving wedge
(5) of support and fixation of the screw (6) introduced vertically in the section (3) of the wedge (5); Wedge (5) with a through hole (7) on the upper surface, and oblong hole (8) perpendicular to it; Coupling pin (10) fitted into the sliding cavity (11 ) of the keel's (9) base.
