  • the invention relates to a plant for purification of oil sludge containing water, said plant comprising one or more nozzles for injecting oil sludge into a receptacle, means for changing the pressure within the receptacle to the effect that water can be separated off the oil sludge by distillation at different temperatures, means for heating the oil sludge containing water.
  • the purification that takes place before the oil is used in the engine may take place by means of a variety of filters, but most often the purification takes place by means of a centrifuge expelling the impurities (ie the heavy parts, including also water) in the form of oil sludge. It is forbidden to discharge that oil sludge into the harbours and consequently it must be deposited either ashore or burnt onboard the vessel.

  • the oil sludge produced by a centrifuge has a typical water content of about 50%, which is too high for the sludge as such to be burnt on/in a typical boiler, and therefore a further purification of the oil sludge is most often required.

  • US patent disclosure No. 4,757,618 teaches a system consisting of a boiler and a vacuum-based distillation system used for the purification of the oil sludge.

  • a method of measuring the water content of the recycled sludge is by measuring the temperature by two temperature sensors (not shown) arranged at eg the circulation pump 6 and the pre-heater 7, respectively. When the temperature at the circulation pump 6 approaches the temperature prevailing at the pre-heater 7 it is thus a sign that no further evaporation (distillation) of water from the sludge in the containers 2 is taking place, following which the batch is conveyed to a (not shown) buffer container prior to being injected into the ship's engine.

  • the injection may moreover be controlled by a measured pressure, meaning that sludge is injected only when the pressure within the container 2 is (has dropped) below a predetermined threshold.

  • the water vapour drawn out of the container 2 is conveyed to a storage tank 12 (clean bilge tank), from where it can be led overboard at a later stage.

  • the purified oil sludge can be injected into the fuel supply of the vessel in such concentration that any remaining salts, solid matter, metals or water do not exceed the values fixed in eg specifications.
  • the oil sludge can be injected into the fuel supply of the vessel in such concentration that the specifications (for the fuel or the engine) are observed, while the injection still takes place in a yet lower concentration.
  • the injection of the purified oil sludge takes place continuously, but, of course, it may be necessary to control the injection of the purified oil sludge into the ship's engine to the effect that it takes place in a precisely controlled concentration depending on the result of a continuous analysis performed on the oil sludge.
  • the amount of purified sludge is, according to a further embodiment, controlled by the load of the principal engine (momentum/revolutions on the main shaft), this also being an accurate measure of the current flow of fuel.

Abstract

L'invention concerne une installation permettant de purifier des boues d'hydrocarbures contenant de l'eau. Ladite installation comprend une ou plusieurs buse(s) permettant d'injecter les boues d'hydrocarbures dans un récipient (2), un organe permettant de modifier la pression à l'intérieur dudit récipient (2) afin que l'eau soit séparée des déchets d'hydrocarbures par distillation à des températures variées, un organe (7) permettant de chauffer les boues d'hydrocarbures contenant de l'eau, et un organe permettant de retirer mécaniquement les particules des boues d'hydrocarbures à partir desquelles l'eau est retirée par distillation.
