Abstract
This invention relates to a cooking appliance (1) comprising a cooktop (4) that can move forwards and backwards by the opening or closing of the top cover (3), presenting an aesthetic appearance and fulfilling the conditions for cleanliness.
Description
Description A COOKING APPLIANCE
[001] This invention relates to a cooking appliance which is easy to clean and has an aesthetic appearance.
[002] The cooktops with burner groups for heating and/or cooking are positioned on top of the cooking appliance and if desired can be closed with a top cover when cooking appliance is not in use. When top cover is closed, in general, a narrow ground surface part must be left between the front edge of the cooktop and the front edge of top surface of the cooking appliance so that the cover is in full contact with the upper surface of the cooking appliance. This narrow ground surface part is soiled by overflowing, spilling or oil spattering during use, is hard to clean and mars the appearance. In order to overcome this problem, the front edge of the cooktop is extended so as to align with the front surface of the cooking appliance, for example the control panel, but in a cooking appliance designed like this, when the cover is closed, the front view will be seen as a cooktop on the control panel and a cover on the cooktop which contacts the cooktop when closed, consisting of components put on top of each other which does not serve the user demands.
[003] The aim of the present invention is to realization of a cooking appliance which has an aesthetic appearance when the top cover is open or closed and is easy to clean.
[004] The cooking appliance realized in order to attain above mentioned aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where :

[012] The cooking appliance (1) comprises a cabinet (2) with a top surface and/or an inner enclosure where cooking and/or heating processes are carried out, a top cover (3) allowing to close the top surface when desired, a cooktop (4) positioned on top of the cabinet (2) including burner groups providing heating and/or cooking, which moves horizontally backwards while the top cover (3) closes and forwards while the top cover (3) opens, a fixed hinge (5) that attaches the top cover (3) to the cabinet (2), a hinge pin (6) which allows the top cover (3) to open or close around an axis on the fixed hinge (5), a movable hinge (8) having one or more support surfaces (7) which moves by the opening, closing of the top cover( 3) and transfers this received movement to the cooktop (4) providing a forward and backward movement of the cooktop (4), a groove
(9) which holds the cooktop (4) on the cabinet (2) and supported by elastic dampeners for allowing movement of the cooktop (4) without jolting, and a narrow surface part
(10) which appears when the cooktop (4) moves backwards, where the front edge of the top cover (3) sits on when the top cover (3) is closed and covered entirely by the cooktop (4) when the cooktop (4) moves forward.
[013] In one embodiment of the present invention, the cooking appliance (1) comprises a rotatably movable hinge (8) which makes a rotating movement while the top cover (3) is opening or closing providing pulling and pushing of the cooktop (4). The movable hinge (8) making a rotating movement is preferably attached to the hinge pin (6) on the fixed hinge (5) so as to transfer the rotating movement received from the top cover (3) while the top cover (3) is opening or closing.
[014] In this embodiment, the top cover (3) includes a pusher pin (11) which moves the movable hinge (8) while the top cover (3) opens or closes. The movable hinge (8) comprises one or more recesses (12) where the pusher pin (11) is supported on and moves the movable hinge (8) when the top cover (3) is almost at fully open or fully
closed positions during the opening, closing of the top cover (3), and a cam surface (13) on which the pusher pin (11) makes a sliding movement between the recesses (12) and blocks the movement of the cooktop (4) at interval positions of the top cover (3).
[015] In the above mentioned embodiment, while the top cover (3) approaches the fully open position, the pusher pin (11) supported on the recess (12) at the front, turns the movable hinge (8), the support surface (7) presses on the cooktop (4) and pushes the cooktop (4) towards the front of the cooking appliance (1) and when the top cover (3) is fully open, the cooktop (4) completes its forward motion, closing the narrow surface part (10) entirely. While the top cover (3) closes, the pusher pin (11) rests on the recess (12) at the back, and this time turns the movable hinge (8) in the opposite direction, the support surface (7) pushes the cooktop (4) by pressing on it, towards the back of the cooking appliance (1), and when the top cover (3) is fully closed, the cooktop (4) completes its backward movement when the narrow surface part (10) appears with which the front edge of the top cover (3) contacts.
[016] In another embodiment of the present invention, the cooking appliance (1) comprises a vertically movable hinge (8) which enables pulling and pushing of the cooktop (4) while the top cover (3) opens or closes and a fixed hinge (5) having a projection (14) which limits the horizontal movement of the movable hinge (8) that moves vertically. In this embodiment, the vertically movable hinge (8) comprises a channel (15) which enables its vertical movement by resting on the projection (14), a cover leaning surface (16) which by pressing on, allows the vertical movement of the top cover (3) while it is closing, one or more support surfaces (7) with inclined shapes so as to provide backward and forward movement of the cooktop (4) by pressing on it while moving vertically, a spring (17) at its bottom side which holds it and provides dampening, which gets free while the top cover (3) opens and by pushing it up allows the support surface (7) to press on and push the cooktop (4), and a spring pusher (18) which transfers the movement to the spring (17) and being fixed to the spring (17) prevents its horizontal movement.
[017] In this embodiment, while the top cover (3) is closing, it presses on the cover leaning surface (16) and the movable hinge (8) moves downward. While the movable hinge (8) moves downward, the inclined support surface (7) presses on the cooktop (4), pushing the cooktop (4) backwards. The movable hinge (8) exerts pressure on the spring (17) by the spring pusher (18) to dampen the movement and completes its vertical movement. While the cooktop (4) moves fully back, the narrow surface part (10) appears which will contact the front edge of the top cover (3). While the top cover (3) is opening, the pressure on the cover leaning surface (16) and thus the spring (17) is relieved. While the spring (17) returns to its free height, it pushes up the spring pusher (18) and the movable hinge (8). The inclined support surface (7) presses on the
cooktop (4) pushing the cooktop(4) forward. When the spring (17) reaches its full free height, the movable hinge (8) completes its upward movement and the cooktop (4) aligns with the front surface of the cooktop (4) and the front surface of the cabinet (2) by completely moving forward, closing the narrow surface part (10).
[018] When the top cover (3) is in fully open position, the front surface of the cooktop (4) aligning with the front surface of the cooking appliance (1) forms a convergent single line of the cooktop (4) and the cooking device (1), presenting an aesthetic frontal view and the soiling of the narrow surface part (10) is prevented while the cooking appliance (1) is in use since the narrow surface part (10) between the cooktop (4) and the front surface of the cabinet (2) is completely closed.
[019] When the top cover (3) is in fully closed position, the top cover (3) is in contact with the top surface of the cabinet (2) on a single line, hiding the cooktop (4), which creates an aesthetic appearance. Since the narrow surface part (10) formed by the backward movement of the cooktop (4) is closed by the top cover (3), and since the cooking appliance (1) is not in use at the time, the soiling of the narrow surface part (10) is also prevented when the top cover (3) is in closed position.
Claims
[001] A cooking appliance (1) comprising a cabinet (2) and a top cover (3) for closing its top surface and characterized by a cooktop (4) positioned on top of the cabinet
(2) including burner groups providing heating and/or cooking and which moves forwards while the top cover (3) is opening, and backwards while the top cover
(3) is closing, in a horizontal direction.
[002] A cooking appliance (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by a groove (9) which holds the cooktop (4) on the cabinet (2) and which is supported by elastic dampeners providing the movement of the cooktop (4) without jolting.
[003] A cooking appliance (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by a surface part (10) that appears when the cooktop (4) goes backward, which is in contact with the front edge of the top cover (3) when the top cover (3) is closed , and fully covered by the cooktop (4) when the cooktop (4) moves forward.
[004] A cooking appliance (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by a fixed hinge (5) that connects the top cover (3) to the cabinet (2) and a movable hinge (8) comprising one or more support surfaces (7), which move by the opening or closing of the top cover (3) and transfer this received movement to the cooktop (4) enabling its forward and backward movement.
[005] A cooking appliance (1) as in any one of the Claims 1 to 4, characterized by a movable hinge (8) which makes a rotating movement while the top cover (3) opens or closes providing the pulling and pushing of the cooktop (4).
[006] A cooking appliance (1) as in Claim 5, characterized by a hinge pin (6) which provides the top cover (3) to open or close around an axis over the fixed hinge (5) and a movable hinge (8) attached to the hinge pin (6) so as to transfer the rotating movement received from the top cover (3) by making a pivotal movement around the hinge pin (6) while the top cover (3) is opening or closing.
[007] A cooking appliance (1) as in Claim 5, characterized by a top cover (3) comprising a pusher pin (11) which moves the movable hinge (8) while it is opening or closing.
[008] A cooking appliance (1) as in Claim 7, characterized by a movable hinge (8) comprising one or more recesses (12) where the pusher pin (11) is supported on and moves the movable hinge (8) when the top cover (3) is almost at fully open or fully closed positions during the opening, closing of the top cover (3), and a cam surface (13) on which the pusher pin (11) makes a sliding movement between the recesses (12) and which restrains the movement of the cooktop (4) at interval positions of the top cover (3).
[009] A cooking appliance (1) as in any one of the Claims 1 to 4, characterized by a
movable hinge (8) providing the pulling and pushing of the cooktop (4) by moving vertically during the opening or closing of the top cover (3).
[010] A cooking appliance (1) as in Claim 9, characterized by a fixed hinge (5) having a projection (14) which limits the horizontal movement of the movable hinge (8) that moves vertically.
[011] A cooking appliance (1) as in Claim 10, characterized by a movable hinge (8) comprising a channel (15) which enables its vertical movement by being supported by the projection (14), a cover leaning surface (16) which by pressing on, allows the vertical movement of the top cover (3) while it is closing, one or more support surfaces (7) with inclined shapes so as to provide a forward or backward movement of the cooktop (4) by pressing on it while moving vertically, a spring (17) at its bottom side which holds it and provides dampening, being set free while the top cover (3) is opening and by pushing itself up allows the support surface (7) to press on and push the cooktop (4), and a spring pusher (18) which transfers the movement to the spring (17) and by being fixed to the spring (17) avoids its horizontal movement.
