Abstract

A portable data processing device (12) includes at least one data file processing unit (20, 22), a volatile memory (16) for storing at least one data file, a non­volatile memory (18) for storing meta data (MD) associated with said data file, and a control unit (14) arranged to control the supply of data files to the at least one data file processing unit (20, 22). The meta data (MD) allows restoring of data files lost from the volatile memory (16) when the power of the portable data processing device (12) is lost.
