Abstract

La présente invention a trait à un procédé pour la production d'une mousse de graphite microporeuse (300) comportant une matrice de fibres de graphite (302) liées par un précurseur de formation de graphite graphitisé (304). Dans un mode de réalisation, le procédé comprend la mise à disposition d'une pluralité de fibres de graphite (302); le mélange des fibres de graphite (302) avec un précurseur de formation de graphite; la compression du mélange; la formation d'une matrice précurseur comportant la fibre de graphite et le précurseur de formation de graphite; un premier chauffage de la matrice à une température à laquelle le précurseur de formation de graphite est carbonisé, formant une matrice carbonisée; et un deuxième chauffage de la matrice carbonisée à une température à laquelle le précurseur de formation de graphite carbonisé est graphitisé, formant la mousse de graphite microporeuse (300). La mousse de graphite (300) présente un ou plusieurs pores de tailles inférieures à environ dix microns, un faible poids volumique apparent, une haute tenue physique et une bonne aptitude à l'usinage, tout en ayant également les caractéristiques souhaitables de graphite, comprenant une conductivité thermique, une conductivité électrique et une aptitude au soudage élevées.
