Abstract

System and method for display device and for operating emissive pixel display having integrated luminance or photon flux sensor, for controlling pixel luminance in display, maintaining uniform pixel luminance, and calibration. Display comprises pixel array each pixel including photon emitter that may be OLED, electroluminescent, plasma or any other emitter. Emitter drive circuit for receiving input image data for each pixel and generating pixel drive signal to produce target pixel luminance during given frame time, emitter luminance sensor and measurement circuit for measuring electrical parameter indicative of actual luminance of pixel over portion of measurement display frame time; and display logic receiving pixel luminance related to electrical parameter for each pixel and generating correction for application in subsequent time period to input image data for each pixel based on difference between target and measured pixel luminance. Information appliance such as computer monitor, TV, or any other device having display panel.
