STATIC PLATE FILTER WITH A CONTINUOUS FLOW TO FILTER LIQUIDS
Field of invention The present invention refers to a Static Plate filter with a continuous flow to filter liquids containing particles and other impurities that need to be eliminated; it has a rotating cleaning system to regenerate the filtering plates.
State of the art
The plate filters have wide application in civil and industrial processes, where they are used during the depuration phase of the sewage, as well as in the treatment of waters used in the agricultural sector and in the treatment of primary waters.
Basically, their function is based on the capacity to hold back particles of various dimensions contained in the waters being treated through an arbitrary number of filters, according to the desired final purity. Normally the main inconvenience is given by the fact that the filters must be cleaned periodically so that they can carry out their function properly. The cleaning can be done by hand, but normally it is automated with a timed gear case or with a manometer that reads the water pressure differences before and after it goes through the filters. A typical example of plate filter is largely used in industries where it is necessary to purify the treatment waters. Normally this type of filter is made up by a series of Notarbartolo & Gervasi GmbH 9 DE1358PTEP
filtrating plates mounted firmly on a central tube. The water flows by gravity from the central feeding tube through filtering panels mounted on plates that operate with a portion of their diameter submersed. The solids are caught on the internal surface of the same filtering panels. The accumulation of solids hinders the flow of the water through the panels, making the water rise within the filter, until it reaches a level sensor that determines the timed rotation of the plates and starts the counter washing cycle. The pressure of the washing releases the solids held by the filtering means, conveying them in a collecting and disposal hopper. The counter washing, that uses a part of the already filtered water, requires a minimum portion of the total flow of the treated water, according to the concentration of the suspended solids entering.
Alternatively, the cleaning process foresees the reversal of the water flow to be filtered in order to release the impurities from the surface of the filters, and subsequently sucks them. The biggest inconvenience of the filter cleaning process, whether it is carried out manually or in automatic, is given by the fact that the cleaning phase can only be carried out by interrupting the filtering phase with subsequent negative repercussions on the total timing of the process Furthermore, as the cleaning is not acting directly on each filtering surface, its efficiency is reduced and additionally the effective removal of the residues is not the Notarbartolo & Gervasi GmbH 3 DE1358PTEP
same for all the plates, especially when the size of the particles to be removed is very small.
Object of the invention
The primary object of this invention is then to provide a plate filter where the cleaning phase does not require to interrupt the filtering operation.
A further object of this invention is also to provide a filter with an efficient cleaning phase on the surface of each plate, thus removing completely any gradient of deposited particles.
These objects are achieved by a static plate filter according to the subject-matter of claim 1.
Other advantageous aspects of the invention are defined in the dependent claims.
Detailed description of the invention
The present invention is herewith described with reference to the drawings which function is merely explicative. They show: Fig. 1: a lengthwise section of the filter with a rotating cleaning device according to the present invention;

The static plate filter with a continuous flow according to the present invention includes the following parts:
- A set of filtering plates with a filtering fabric B,
- A fissured central tube C with a cavity section for the evacuation of the filtered liquid,
- A waterproof aspiration chamber D,
- A rotating cleaning device F for the regeneration of the plate filters A, with a header which rotates around the aspiration chamber D with which it is in direct contact, on which are coupled fissured tubes G for the cleaning and aspiration of the filtering fabric B, where the fissured tubes G of the rotating cleaning device F stick to the filtering fabric in such a way as to guarantee the cleaning of the adjacent faces of two near plates.
The filtrating plates A are fixed on the central fissured tube C in correspondence with the fissures, together with the concentric aspiration chamber D and the rotating cleaning device F.
The aspiration chamber D is coaxial to the central tube C and includes waterproof rotating means and attachments for an aspiration group I.
The rotating cleaning device F includes a rotation system H made up by a motion inductor coupled with the same rotating device. Notarbartolo & Gervasi GmbH ^ DE1358PTEP
The aspiration group I includes one or more pumps connected to the aspiration chamber D.
A sensoring device J detects the water level. The filter works as follows: The liquid to be filtered, which contains some suspended solid particles, goes through the filtrating surface of the plates A according to an inward flow (from the outside to the inside), depositing on the fabric the solid matters and coming out through the fissures of the central tube C. The progressive clogging of the fabric lowers its permeability and therefore the level of the water rises, until it reaches the maximum pre-established value, detected by the device J that automatically activates the fabric cleaning phase, as described below: the rotation system H starts the rotation of the cleaning device F and activates at the same time the aspiration group I; the aspiration effect created by the depression generated by the aspiration group I allows the cleaning of all the surface of the filtrating plate, by means of the combined action of the water flow sucked up by the tube G and the contemporary rotation of the cleaning system. In this way the whole surface of the plate undergoes the counter washing cleaning effect. During the cleaning, due to the effect of the regeneration of the fabric, the level of the liquid above the filter will progressively diminish until it reaches the pre-established minimum level what ends the counter washing cycle. The cycle will be repeated when the maximum level is reached again. Notarbartolo & Gervasi GmbH 6 DE1358PTEP
During the whole cleaning phase the water flow is continuous, without the need of interrupting the filtering operation and the liquid flow through the plates. Furthermore, thanks to the mechanical action practiced directly on the surface of the filtering fabric B, the solid residues are efficiently and completely removed.
