Definitions
- Winding device for winding and unwinding a cord for raising and lowering a cur ⁇ tain, a Venetian blind or the like-
- the invention relates to a winding device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a winding device is used for winding and unwinding a cord, a so-called lift cord, with a view to raising and lowering a curtain, a Venetian blind or the like.
- a cord a so-called lift cord
- two or more cords are used for lifting and lowering curtains.
- These cords are wound up on the winding cylinder when the curtain is to be lifted and unwound from the winding cylinder when the curtain is to be lowered.
- the cords are wound up on a winding cylinder which is displaced in axial direc ⁇ tion, whereby the windings are arranged uniformly in juxtaposition. If the winding cylin ⁇ der was not displaced in axial direction during the winding action, the windings would be arranged more or less randomly on top of each other, which may cause an uneven winding up.
- Winding devices in which the winding cylinder is displaced in axial direction during the winding action, are known from the patent literature.
- US 3.141.497 discloses a device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- One drawback of this device is that it is adapted to a specific curtain width and thus has to be pro ⁇ quizch specifically thereto.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a flexible device which is easily adapt ⁇ able to several widths.
- the stationary cylinder includes a through-going axial hole housing the drive shaft.
- each winding unit can be displaced in its longitudinal direction and the number of winding units and thus the number of cords may be adjusted to the width of the curtain or Venetian blind.
- the stationary cylinder may be attached to a slide.
- the slide may be fastened to a rail by means of releasable fastening means.
- releasable fastening means As a result improved flexibility is obtained as the slide or slides may be displaced and secured in the desired position on the rail.
- the slide includes a guide means for the cord, whereby a controlled winding of the cord is ensured.
- the winding cylinder extends past one end of the stationary cylinder and includes an end cover being rotationally connected with the drive shaft.
- the drive shaft has a polygonal cross section and the end cover has an axial hole with a corresponding polygonal cross section, whereby the driv ⁇ ing connection between the drive shaft and the winding cylinder is obtained in a par ⁇ ticularly simple manner.
- the winding device includes at least two winding units.
- the winding device includes at least two winding units with opposing threads such that the winding cylinders are moved in opposite axial directions during winding.
- the end covers of the two wind ⁇ ing units face outwards towards the outer edge of the curtain or Venetian blind.
- the cords may thus be positioned relatively close to the edge in both sides. This is particu- larly advantageous in so-called roman blinds, as it further ensures that the curtain is folded correctly when lifted.
- the thread pitch of the winding unit corresponds substantially to the diameter of the cord.
- the thread pitch of the winding unit corresponds substantially to the diameter of the cord.
- Fig. 1 is a side view of a section of a winding device according to the invention.
- Fig. 2 is an exploded, perspective cross-sectional view of a winding unit.
- Fig. 1 is a partial view of a winding device according to the invention.
- the winding de ⁇ vice includes one or more winding units 13.
- a single winding unit 13 is shown in an ex ⁇ ploded perspective sectional view in Fig. 2.
- the winding device is used for lifting and lowering a curtain, eg. a Roman blind, a pleaded blind or a Venetian blind.
- a curtain eg. a Roman blind, a pleaded blind or a Venetian blind.
- One or typically more cords 9 is/are secured to the winding device at one end and to a lower end of the curtain or Venetian blind at the other end.
- the cords 9 are either wound or un- wound from the winding cylinder 1 , whereby the curtain or Venetian blind is lifted or lowered.
- the wind ⁇ ing device includes a winding unit 13 for each cord 9.
- Fig. 1 only a single winding unit 13 is shown. This unit is shown in an exploded perspective sectional view in Fig. 2.
- the winding device includes a rail 10 typically of a length cor- responding to the width of the window.
- Each winding unit 13 includes a slide 12 being secured to the rail by means of a fastening means 15, eg. a screw.
- a stationary cylin ⁇ der 2 extending parallel to the rail is firmly connected to the slide 12.
- the stationary cyl ⁇ inder 2 includes an external thread 3 and a through-going hole 14.
- a winding cylinder 1 has an end portion 16 with an axial hole provided with an internal thread 4 correspond- ing to the external thread 3 of the stationary cylinder 2.
- the winding cylinder 1 is in threaded engagement with the stationary cylinder 2.
- the winding cylinder 1 extends through a circular opening 11 in the slide 12 and is provided with an end cover 6 at its projecting end.
- a through-going drive shaft 8 with a polygonal cross section is inserted through the axial hole 14 of the stationary cylinder 2 and through an axial hole 7 of a corresponding polygonal cross section in the end cover 6 of the winding cylinder 1.
- the winding cylinder 1 rotates at the same time as it is axi- ally displaced in relation to the stationary cylinder 2.
- An optional number of winding units 13 may be arranged, said units being driven by the same through-going drive shaft 8.
- the drive shaft 8 may be driven by hand or motorised.
- the cord 9 which is inserted through a guide slot 5 in the slide 12 and secured to the winding cylinder 1 , is unwound from or wound onto the winding cylinder. Since the winding cylinder 1 due to the threaded engagement with the stationary cylinder 2 is axially displaced during the rotation, the cord is wound up with windings being positioned in juxtaposition instead of on top of each other.
- the thread pitch corresponds substantially to the diameter 9 of the cord, an even uniform winding being obtained thereby.
- each end the winding device is provided with a winding unit 13 with opposing threads, the end cover 6 of the winding cylinders 1 fac- ing the ends, ie. the edges of the curtain.
- a cord 9 can be placed very close to each edge of the curtain. This is particularly advantageous in so-called Roman blinds, as it ensures a correct folding of the curtain during lifting thereof.
- a high degree of flexibility as regards production is obtained as a result of the winding device including a single drive shaft 8 for an optional number of winding units 13.
- One, two, three or more winding units may thus be inserted on a drive shaft 8 which is cut to the desired length.
- the rail 10 may also be cut to the desired length.
- each winding unit 13 is se ⁇ cured by means of the fastening means 15.
- the parts of the winding unit may preferably be made by injection moulding of plastics.
- the drive shaft 8, which may be power-driven or hand-operated in a manner known per se, may also be made of plastics or metal.
- the rail 10 may also be made of plastics or metal.
- the drive shaft 8 and the axial hole 7 in the end cover 6 may be hexagonal or have an ⁇ other polygonal shape.
- the end cover 6 may be attached to the drive shaft 8 by means of a screw connection or key-and-slot connection.
- the winding cylinder 1 has an outer diameter of about 20 mm. If the cord 9 has a diameter of about 1 mm, a uniform winding, in which the wind ⁇ ings are arranged side by side, of a cord of about 2.5 m will cover nearly 4 cm of the length of the winding cylinder 1. When the end covers 6 face the edge of the curtain, the outermost cords for a curtain of a height of 2.5 m may thus be arranged about 4 cm from the edges of the curtain.
