Description

DOCUMENT D'EDITION EDITION DOCUMENT

The invention relates to a publishing document having at least flat pages which are linked together like a book. Since 1455 when Gutenberg published his Bible, only flat-page books have been printed. These flat pages are flexible so that they can be turned, but they are intended to lie flat when the books are closed. However, books with flat pages, perfect for reading texts, have various drawbacks concerning illustrations. Thus, the cards that used to be pasted at the end of travel account books, had to be unfolded to be read, then folded down before the books could be replaced. Unfolding and folding ended up tearing the folds of the cards in the long run. The notebooks for maps or plans that are currently inserted in books are sewn at the same time as the other notebooks for text. However, this necessary sewing prevents easy reading of the cards or plans where the folds of the notebooks are. Some publishers prefer to separate the left and right halves of maps or plans by a white middle margin measuring from 3 to 12mm approximately. The seam being made in the middle of this white margin, the reading is easier here, but remains imperfect. Because the disadvantage then comes from this median margin which interrupts all the plots. An object of the invention is to overcome the drawbacks of this prior art by proposing an original solution without creating an additional cost in the production of books. To this end, the invention provides an publishing document having at least flat pages which are linked together by one of their sides in the manner of a book, which is characterized in that it also has larger curved pages which fold over to flat pages when the document is closed and which are curled when the document is opened. According to another characteristic of the invention, the flat pages may have a thickness of at least 8mm to better support the curved pages when the document is closed, and thus avoid the formation of folds. In general, all of the flat and curved pages can be enclosed in a flexible, semi-rigid or rigid cover. Advantageously, the cover can be equipped with a closing device at the choice of the document editor. The invention finds in particular applications for the manufacture of directories of the streets of a city like Paris for example with illustration of the plans of the districts, geographical atlases, books on the biography of a painter with reproductions of tables, books teaching the resistance of materials with reproduction of abacuses, etc. Other advantages, characteristics and details of the invention will emerge from the additional description which follows with reference to the accompanying drawings, given solely by way of example and in which: - Figure 1 is a perspective view of a embodiment of an editing document according to the invention in a closed position; and - Figure 2 is a perspective view of the document according to Figure 1 but in an open position. The publishing document 1 according to the invention and as illustrated in FIG. 1 is generally in the form of a book which comprises a first part of flat pages 2 and a second part of curved pages 3 of larger format and which are folded down and supported on the flat pages 2 by forming a bend C when the document 1 is closed. Advantageously, the first part of flat pages 2 can have a thickness of at least 8mm to avoid the formation of folds in the bend C of the second part of curved pages 3. The first part of flat pages 2 comprises for example information, preferably a text printed on the front and back, these information can be an alphabetical directory of the streets of a city, a text presenting a city or a country, a text presenting the biography of a painter, a text for teaching a discipline, ... The second part of curved pages 3 is at most twice the size of the first part of flat pages 2, and can serve in particular as an illustration of the text printed on the first part of flat pages 2, in the form of photographs, plans or Cards. When the document 1 is opened as illustrated in FIG. 2, the second part of curved pages 3 is curved so that it can be consulted. As an example, page 3a illustrates a country such as France and page 3b illustrates a city map. The cover 5 may be equipped with a locking device which can be constituted by a device with magnets 6a and 6b, or by two strips VELCRO ®, or any other locking system. All pages 2 and 3 will be made of paper suitable for the destination of the document, and the printing may be in black and white or in color, and the cover 5 may be flexible, semi-rigid or rigid.
