Definitions
- the object of the present invention is an ergonomic polyurethane mattress as well as the manufacturing process thereof.
- the mattress object of the invention its special design and configuration making it an ergonomic mattress, which meets all the characteristics that are requested of a mattress, such as hardness, stability, body adaptation, resistance, and all made of a material like polyurethane.
- the manufacturing process also object of the invention allows obtaining a quick and simple way, achieving the configuration object of the invention from which the advantages listed above are derived.
- the present invention is circumscribed within the field of mattresses, and particularly among those made of polyurethane characterized by the configuration and design of the different layers.
- a mattress At the present time in the manufacture of a mattress, different parameters that are considered essential to classify a mattress as quality are sought. In the first place it is desired that a mattress be comfortable, that it has firmness or has an adequate and sufficient degree of hardness to the weight of the body, that it is good for the climbing, that allows to have a good rest, that is flexible and hard and for assuming that the mattress adapts to the geometry of the human body once laid on it.
- the current spring mattresses with reinforcements although they mostly achieve the requirements that are required of a mattress, have the disadvantage of the high cost of manufacturing, since the intervention of a high percentage of labor is necessary.
- Other mattresses such as latex, have the disadvantage of the cost of materials used in its manufacture.
- the ergonomic polyurethane mattress object of the invention has a general parallelepipedic shape in which the polyurethane has been distributed in layers that have a particular geometry.
- the material used in the manufacture is high strength polyurethane, which, together with the geometry of the different layers that are made in the mattress, achieve the ergonomic characteristics sought.
- Polyurethane as a manufacturing material offers a series of advantages such as having a microalveolar structure that allows perfect perspiration, is hypoallergenic, as well as hygienic.
- the entire mattress assembly are not independent parts that can be linked together at the time of assembly of the mattress but are obtained from an initial polyurethane block or by a mold that has the final shape of the mattress, but finally obtaining a block unique that presents a certain distribution of the polyurethane in layers with a particular geometry, which make the mattress finally obtained meet all the structural characteristics that should be requested from an ergonomic mattress.
- the polyurethane is distributed as in three layers, one upper and one lower practically the same, between which a straight intermediate layer is arranged.
- the three layers are linked at the top and bottom, which correspond to the head and feet of the mattress, in this way the entire mattress assembly forms a single block and is not the result of assembling different parts.
- the upper and lower layer have a sinusoidal or wavy profile on their face closest to the intermediate layer describing a series of ridges and valleys.
- the crests of the profile of the upper and lower layers are in contact with the intermediate layer to which they are attached, by means of a glue or adhesive. This adhesion of the ridges to the intermediate layer prevents the relative displacement or sliding of the layers from each other when they are supporting the weight.
- the distribution of ridges and valleys of the upper and lower layer is alternated, that is, a crest of the upper layer corresponds in the lower layer with a valley and vice versa, that is, a valley of the upper layer is faced with a ridge of the lower layer.
- the effort of the weight of a body arranged in the mattress is not concentrated in a certain area but is distributed along the mattress due to the sinusoidal profile it presents.
- this effort once distributed between the different waves is transmitted to the intermediate layer through the contact points that are the crests of the sinusoidal profile.
- the intermediate layer again the effort it receives is transmitted to the lower layer through the contact ridges of the lower layer with the intermediate layer, but not at the points directly facing where the intermediate layer has received the effort , but at displaced points, since there is no direct correspondence between the sinusoidal or undulating profile of the upper layer with that of the lower one.
- the upper and lower layers never come together.
- the mattress described above can be obtained by cutting with blades made in a previously programmed machine with the profile that is desired to obtain in the different layers.
- This manufacturing process of cutting on polyurethane foams is known and currently employed in obtaining different shapes.
- Figure 1 Shows in perspective the mattress object of the invention where the profile and the distribution of layers that achieve the desired aim are observed laterally.
- the mattress is a single block consisting of three layers (1), (2) and (3) joined together at its ends, that is, at the head (5) and at the feet (6 ) of the mattress.
- the three layers adopt a parallel arrangement, and are joined at their upper and lower ends, not being closed on the sides (4).
- the top layer (1) has its flat top which is the one that will be in direct contact with the weight of the body, while its lower face has a sinusoidal profile in which there are valleys (7) and crests (8).
- the lower layer (3) has its flat bottom face and is the one that will be in contact with the support structure or bed base, the upper face having a sinusoidal or undulating profile in which valleys (10) and crests are defined (eleven) .
- the intermediate layer (2) has both flat faces and in contact on its upper part with the ridges (8) of the upper layer (1), while the lower part of the intermediate layer (2) is in contact with the ridges ( 11) of the lower layer (3).
- the contact points (9) and (12) of the ridges (8) and (11) respectively are joined by adhesives or tails, thus avoiding relative displacement between the layers in the transmission and distribution of forces.
