Abstract

A concentric slave cylinder (10) has an annular piston (11) which moves in an annular bore (12) in an annular body (13) which surrounds a gearbox input shaft. The piston carries a clutch release bearing (19) for the operation of an associated vehicle drive clutch. The body (13) and piston (11) are disposed radially outboard of the release bearing (19). The outer periphery (18) of the piston also encircles the outer periphery of the release bearing (19) so that the bearing can move laterally relative to the piston to provide self-centring of the release bearing.
