Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for attaching a nozzle or a cock (4) to the bottom hole (2) of a metal casting vessel (1). The attachment is carried out by means of a lifting means, which lifts the nozzle or the cock (4) near the vertex that is next to the bottom hole (2), and a locking means (12), which stops the descending nozzle or cock (4) near the vertex and locks it therein.
