  • Wipes are used to clean the surface of objects and are very advantageous for absorbing liquids of all kinds. To cope with this, they must have a high abrasion resistance and a high absorption capacity of liquids.
  • EP-B-0 081 218 discloses a wipe which consists of interwoven, hot-water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol fibers which shrink under the influence of temperature and which are impregnated with a resin made of polyvinyl alcohol for further connection.
  • the fibers shrink during impregnation. Therefore, according to the EP, the fleece is stretched during impregnation and also during drying. Furthermore, the drying temperature during the drying process must be kept below the softening temperature of the fiber.
  • Such a cloth has a high abrasion resistance, but the handle is also rubber-like due to the shrunk fibers. Problems also arise if the treated wipes of this type are stored for a long period of time.
  • a wipe is known as a needled sandwich fleece, for which purpose it consists of several layers of microfibers of different polymers and additionally of secondary staple fibers that are absorbent. These microfibers have a good cleaning effect, but are not liquid receptive. Therefore, the secondary fibers were added, which can also be made from polyvinyl alcohol. However, these wipes suffer from less fluid absorption.
  • the invention has for its object to develop a fully synthetic wipe that has the maximum possible liquid absorption capacity, a good cleaning effect and a cloth-like handle. It should also be able to be exposed to temperatures of up to 100 ° C, i.e. cooking temperatures, for complete cleaning.
