Abstract

The method comprises processing plural product information records from the product information sources (42 & 46). A Shopping server (20) generates one or more web crawlers to collect product information from the internet accessible information such as web pages (42 & 46) maintained by merchant servers (40) and /or manufacture servers (44). The shoppping server (20) processes the product information to form product information records that are aggregated into groups so that the product information assigend to each group corresponds to the same product. A unique product ID corresponding to the product associated with each groups to identify the product. Assigning each identified product a category in a taxonomy. Finding attributes in the product information records corresponding to the group for each product. Creating product specifications, based on the attributes for each product, and storing each product specification in the taxonomy at the products assigned category to create a catalog (26).
