Abstract

Disclosed is a method for conditioning slags and dust accumulated during the production of high-grade steel or during trash incineration. According to said method, the molten slags are treated with H2O vapor such that metal halides are converted into metal oxides and hydrogen halides, and the obtained hydrogen halide is withdrawn. The slags that are conditioned in said manner can be used for producing hydraulically active aggregates for cement, the recovery of optionally contained zinc being substantially facilitated.
