Abstract

L'invention concerne une endoprothèse vasculaire ou un autre dispositif médical implantable susceptible d'être enveloppée d'un polymère biocompatible biodégradable auquel on fixe un ligand biologique qui capture spécifiquement des progéniteurs de cellules endothéliales (PEC) dans le sang en circulation afin de favoriser la formation endogène d'un endothélium sain dans le diabète type II. Dans un mode de réalisation, le ligand biologique est un peptide qui se lie spécifiquement à un récepteur des intégrines sur les PEC. L'invention concerne également des procédés permettant d'utiliser des endoprothèses vasculaires et d'autres dispositifs médicaux implantables pour favoriser la guérison vasculaire dans le diabète type II, par exemple à la suite d'une intervention mécanique.
