  • Coffee machines of the prior art work according to different principles.

  • This is achieved by supplying water from a water container or another water supply to an electric motor-driven pump, which then supplies the water under high pressure to a coffee grounds receiving device via an electrically heatable area.

  • the coffee pods are inserted into a lower part of the brewing chamber, and the upper part of the brewing chamber can be hinged onto the lower part by the user, a snap-in connection between the two housing parts which can be folded relative to one another ensuring that the brewing chamber is sealed.
  • the problem with this system is that the coffee pad can stick to the upper part of the brewing chamber after opening the coffee machine. Another problem can arise if the coffee machine is actuated in the open state, since the hot water can then spray toward the user of the coffee machine.
  • EP 1 050 258 AI discloses a coffee machine in which coffee pods are inserted into a drawer that has been pulled out and then brought into the brewing position by moving the drawer in. To seal the brewing chamber, a brewing chamber upper part is automatically moved from above to practice the coffee pad. After the brewing process, the coffee pods are automatically disposed of in a collection container inside the coffee machine. In particular due to the motor-driven components of the coffee machine, this is very complex to manufacture and therefore expensive.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a simple solution for the supply and removal of coffee pods available, in particular the risk of splashing out of hot water should be eliminated, and in which there is no possibility that a coffee pad on the top of the brewing chamber sticks.
  • the invention builds on the generic coffee machine in that a coffee pad holder arranged in the drawer is at least partially embraced by at least one essentially vertically displaceable holding device in the inserted state of the drawer, so that the coffee pad holder can be lifted with the holding device, and that by lifting the coffee pad holder a brewing chamber surrounding the coffee pad is formed. Due to the use of a drawer to feed the coffee pod, there is no need to move the water supply. This therefore remains in a position in which escaping water runs down or splashes and in particular not in the direction of the user. By forming the brewing chamber only after the coffee pad holder has been lifted, the drawer can be inserted or removed from the coffee machine without hindrance by the sealing means. When the drawer is pulled out, the coffee pad cannot stick to the top of the brewing chamber, as it is stripped off by the pull-out movement.
  • the holding device has two clamps which surround the coffee pod holder on opposite sides and which can be raised or lowered by a lever mechanism. This is a simple design of the holding device, which also enables a controlled lifting and thus a controlled sealing of the brewing chamber.

  • the extensions reach under the coffee pad holder. When the holding device is lowered, the coffee pad holder is therefore moved into its lowered position by gravity.
  • At least one of the clamps has a further extension, which acts on the coffee pad holder with a downward force when the holding device is lowered. This can ensure that jamming of the coffee pad holder in its raised position is unproblematic since the coffee pad holder is actively carried along when the holding device is lowered.
