Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of reducing contamination of seeds and sprouted seeds. The method comprises treating the seeds with a decontamination agent. The decontamination agent may be a compound that is activated in use, by an acid generated in situ, to generate chlorine dioxide. The decontamination agent may be Ozone gas or an other suitable agent including hydrogen peroxide. The method may also include subjecting the seeds to a heat treatment step.
