Abstract

A personal computer (10) provides a video signal to dual primary and secondary display monitors (12 and 14), improvement comprising the secondary display monitor (14) remote from the computer (10) receiving its video signal by telemetry instead of through a video cable (20). A video signal transmitter (24) connects to the computer (10) through a transmitter cable (28) plugged into a computer display monitor port (18). The cable (40) from the secondary display monitor (14) that would otherwise be plugged into the computer video port (36) is instead connected to a video signal receiver (26). The signal is then transmitted from the computer (10) by the connected transmitter (24) to the receiver (26) connected to the secondary monitor (14). In an alternate embodiment, telemetry between the secondary display monitor (14) and the computer (10) is achieved through a remote access card, the technology of which is well known in the art. Thus, a second observer can be mobile with the secondary display monitor (14), or just sit comfortably in an office with the secondary display (14) held by the observer. In practice, the primary and secondary monitors (12 and 14) are both thin panel displays, such as are well know with LCD technology. The secondary monitor (14) may detachably mount to be back of the primary monitor (12). It then can be used as a two-sided display or it can be detached and carried to a more convenient or comfortable location where it is viewed separately by the second observer as an operator generates display content from the computer (10).
