Abstract

The present invention provides methods of inducing the growth and multiplication of microbial species. The methods involve incubating a sample of microbes in a growth medium that contains an enrichment medium. The enrichment medium is created by pre-culturing a sample of the microbes in an aliquot of the growth medium. In one embodiment the microbes are dormant or nonculturable bacteria. In preferred embodiments, the enrichment medium is added to the growth medium in an amount of about 5% v/v.
