Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus (1) for removing corns, callosities and the like from the skin, comprising a rotating tool (3) designed for providing an abrading action and being coupled to a handle (2). The main feature of the invention is that the apparatus further comprises driving means (6) for controllably rotatively driving the rotating tool (3), for abrading and removing corns and callosities from the skin.

DESCRIPTION

APPARATUS FOR REMOVING CORNS AND CALLOSITIES FROM THE SKIN

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an apparatus for removing corns, callosities and the like from the skin.

As is known, for removing corns, callosities and the like from the skin, are conventionally used removal devices which substantially comprise a handle element to which an abrading surface is connected.

The abrading surface can comprise harshnesses providing the surface with abrading properties .

Other prior corn and callosity removing devices provide to use cutting blades, designed for gradually removing said corns and callosities. The above mentioned prior devices, however, require the user to perform a reciprocating manual operation in order to properly remove the corns and callosities .

Such an operating method is very difficult to be carried out, since the user must be able to perform, in a substantially reclined position, a proper reciprocating movement to remove the callosities without any damages.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the aim of the present invention is to overcome the above mentioned drawbacks, by providing an apparatus for removing corns, callosities and the- like from the skin, allowing to remove said callosities in a very simple and quick manner, by using a substantially cylindrical rotary abrading tool.

Within the scope of the above mentioned aim, a main object of the present invention is to provide such an apparatus which has a very reduced size, can be used in a very easy manner, and allows to remove corns and callosities without the need of performing fatiguing manual operations.

Another object of the present invention is to provide such an apparatus which, owing to its specifically designed construction characteristics, is very reliable and safe in operation.

Yet another object of the present invention is to provide such an apparatus for removing corns, callosities and the like from the skin, which can be easily made and is very competitive from a mere economic standpoint.

According to one aspect of the present invention, the above mentioned aim and objects, as well as yet other objects, which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by an apparatus for removing corns, callosities and the like, comprising a cylindric rotating tool, having an abrading surface, coupled to a handle body, characterized in .that said apparatus further comprises driving means for controllably rotatively driving said rotating tool. Figure 5 illustrates a modified embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention, as partially cross-sectioned, and including an improved and anatomic handle; Figures 6 and 7 are two side views of the apparatus shown in figure 5;

Figures 8 and 9 are two side perspective views of that same apparatus, in an assembled and partially exploded condition, to clearly show the construction of the abrading tool and the electric motor driving said abrading tool;

Figure 10 is a partially cross-sectioned side view of that same apparatus, comprising a rotating or rotary abrading tool, also of cylindric configuration, and coaxially arranged with respect to the driving electric motor; and

Figure 11 is a side perspective view illustrating the apparatus or device shown in figure 10.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

With reference to the number references of the above mentioned figures, the apparatus for removing corns, callosities and the like from the skin, according to the present invention, and which has been generally indicated by the reference number 1, comprises a handle 2, having preferably an elongated configuration and supporting, at one end portion thereof, a rotating or rotary tool having an abrading surface designed for providing an abrading action.

The main feature of the invention is that the abrading surface 3 is formed on a cylindric tool, generally indicated by the reference number 4, which can rotate about its pivot axis, as driven by driving means 6, power supplied by batteries 7, which are housed in the inside of the body of the handle 2 and are controlled by a conventional controlling switch 8.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, the motor 6 is coupled to the shaft 5 of a roller 4 having an abrading surface 3, through a transmission belt 10, coupling a driving pulley 11 and driven pulley 12, which have parallel axes and being applied on the axis of the motor 6 and on the shaft 5.

By the disclosed device, the abrading surface, which can comprise unevennesses or cutting elements, is caused to turn, thereby removing, by abrading, the callosities, in a very simple manner, without the need of applying efforts.

The driving means 6, as is clearly shown in figures 10 and 11, can be directly provided axially aligned with the cylinder 4, having the abrading surface 3, thereby providing the same functionality.

The motor 6 can also comprise a motor reducing unit, in order to rotate the cylindric element 4 with a suitably reduced speed.

From the above disclosure it should be apparent that the invention fully achieves the intended aim and objects.

In particular, the invention provides an apparatus, including a cylindric tool 4, the abrading surface 3 of which is driven by driving means 6, thereby corns and callosities can be removed in a very simple and quick manner.

This is obtained by exploiting the controlled driving provided by the driving motor 6, power supplied by the batteries 7 or, optionally, by other electric power sources.

In practicing the invention, the used materials, provided that they are compatible with the intended use, as well as the contingent size and shapes, can be any, depending on requirements.

Claims

1. An apparatus ^~ for removing corns, callosities and the like, comprising a cylindric rotating tool, having an abrading surface, coupled to a handle body, characterized in that said apparatus further comprises driving means for controllably rotatively driving said rotating tool.

2. An apparatus according to the preceding claim, characterized in that said driving means are housed in the inside of said handle.

3. An apparatus according to the preceding claims, characterized in that said abrading surface is defined on a cylinder which is rotatably supported at an opening of said handle.

An apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said driving means are coupled to said cylindric tool having an abrading surface, through a coupling belt which is engaged on a driving pulley and a driven pulley, the axes of said pulleys being parallel and respectively associated with the shaft of the motor and the shaft of the cylindric abrasive tool.

5. An apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said apparatus comprises driving means arranged coaxially with the axis of the cylindric tool having said abrading surface.

6. An apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said driving means are power supplied by an electric power supply, said electric power supply being housed in said handle.

7. An apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said driving means are power supplied by the electric mains .

8. An apparatus according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that between said rotating tool and driving electric motor a reducing unit is arranged.

9. An apparatus for removing corns, callosities and the like from the skin, according to one or more of the preceding claims, and substantially as broadly disclosed and illustrated, for the intended aim and objects.
