Ladite composition comprend: une charge céramique de renfort (12) non mouillable par l'aluminium fondu et/ou ni chimiquement stable dans l'aluminium fondu, et revêtue d'un matériau céramique mouillable par l'aluminium fondu et stable dans l'aluminium fondu. L'invention porte également dans une autre exécution, sur une composition (20) permettant de réaliser une préforme poreuse devant être infiltrée par un métal fondu en vue de l'obtention d'un composite à matrice métallique. Ladite composition comprend: une charge céramique de renfort (23), non mouillable par l'aluminium fondu, revêtue d'un matériau céramique (22) mouillable par l'aluminium fondu, et facultativement d'un métal tel que le nickel. Le matériau céramique peut être déposé sur la charge de renfort par une technique de dépôt sous vide telle que la pulvérisation cathodique.
