  • the elongate recess 24 is suitably of shell or scallop shape and extends radially from the edge of the heater and beneath and along the length of the rod-like temperature- responsive device 16.
  • the electrically conductive ribbon 10 is arranged to be supported in and to traverse the elongate recess 24, such that an upper edge 30 of the ribbon 10 substantially follows a contour of the surface of the elongate recess 24.
  • the upper edge 30 of the ribbon 10 at a region 32 underlying the temperature-responsive device 16 is arranged at a predetermined distance from the temperature-responsive device 16 and is provided at a lower level relative to the upper edges 30 of the ribbon 10 at regions 34, 36 at either side of the recess 24. Satisfactory electrical clearance is thereby ensured between the rod-like temperature-responsive device 16 and the underlying ribbon 10.
  • the electrically conductive ribbon 10 is suitably arranged with its legs 12 embedded in the base layer 8 to substantially the same extent in the elongate recess 24 as elsewhere in the base layer 8.
  • the electrically conductive ribbon 10 is provided with terminal regions 38, 40 which exit the heater, at exit regions 42, 44, through apertures 46, 48 provided in the peripheral wall 14 and a rim of the metal dish-like support 6.
  • the terminal regions 38, 40 of the ribbon 10 are electrically connected, by welding, to electric terminals 50, 52 laterally disposed and located at opposite sides of the housing 22 associated with the rodlike temperature-responsive device 16.
  • the terminal regions 38, 40 of the ribbon 10 are arranged to exit the heater at a level higher than that of the remainder of the ribbon 10 in the heater, while being adequately supported. It is also necessary to provide for the ribbon 10 to turn substantially laterally to enable the terminal regions 38, 40 to exit the heater at a selected angle, at the exit regions 42, 44 thereof.
  • the ramps 54, 56 have suitably-radiused transition regions 58, 60 and 62, 64 respectively, to provide smooth transition thereonto and therefrom of the ribbon 10.
  • the ramps 54, 56 also merge at their upper ends with plateau regions 66, 68 respectively of material of the base layer 8.
  • the plateau regions 66, 68 partly support, and have secured thereto, the terminal regions 38, 40 of the ribbon 10 and are disposed and dimensioned with respect to their associated ramps 54, 56 such that they accommodate the necessary substantially lateral turns of the ribbon 10 to enable the terminal regions 38, 40 of the ribbon 10 to exit the heater at the exit regions 42, 44 thereof.
  • the plateau regions 66, 68 are provided with surfaces having a plane which may be arranged substantially parallel to a plane of an upper surface 70 of the peripheral wall 14 and such that the terminal regions 38, 40 of the supported ribbon 10 exit the heater with their upper edges in a plane substantially parallel to the plane of the upper surface 70 of the peripheral wall 14.
  • the plateau regions 66, 68 may be provided with surfaces having a plane disposed at an angle to the plane of the upper surface 70 of the peripheral wall 14, such that the supported terminal regions 38, 40 of the ribbon 10 exit the heater with their upper edges in a plane at a predetermined desired angle to the plane of the upper surface 70 of the peripheral wall 14.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un appareil de chauffage électrique par rayonnement (2) qui comprend une base (8) dans un matériau isolant thermique et électrique possédant une surface qui supporte au moins un élément chauffant électrique allongé (10), et une paroi périphérique (14) dans un matériau isolant thermique. L'élément chauffant précité (10) possède au moins une région terminale (38, 40) apte à sortir de l'appareil de chauffage (2), en au moins une région de sortie (42, 44) de ce dernier, à travers au moins une ouverture (46, 48) formée dans la paroi périphérique, afin d'établir une connexion électrique avec au moins un système de moyens bornes électriques (50, 52). La région terminale précitée (38, 40) est supportée à un niveau plus élevé que le reste de l'élément chauffant (10) dans l'appareil de chauffage (2). L'élément chauffant précité (10) possède au moins une région qui est supportée sur au moins une partie ascendante (54, 56) de la surface de la base (8).
