Abstract

To harden an internal wall (10) of a bore (12) that has been machined in a workpiece (11), light (3) is coupled into an optical fibre (6) at an angle to the optical axis (13) of the optical fibre, in such a way that the light emerging at the retrieving end (9) of said optical fibre (6) strikes the lateral internal wall (10) of the bore (12).
