Darüber hinaus ist in der Figur eine Bedienblende 16 dargestellt, das an der Frontseite der Geschirrspülmaschine üblicherweise im oberen Bereich angebracht ist und über das abhängig von der Auswahl eines Programms - z.B. eines Spül- und Trocknungsvorgangs und/oder eines Dampfvorgangs - durch einen Benutzer eine Steuereinrichtung der programmgesteuerten Geschirrspülmaschine entsprechend aktiviert wird, die anschließend die einzelnen Programmschritte steuert. Die Bedienblende 16 umfasst Programmwahlschalter - beispielsweise in Form von Drucktasten 19 - zur Aktivierung der unterschiedlichen Programme, zumindest ein Anzeigeelement 20 und einen Eingriff 18 zum Betätigen einer frontseitig an der Geschirrspülmaschine angebrachten Gerätetür für das Öffnen und Schließen des Spülbehälters 1. Der Spülbehälter 1 besteht aus einem - in dem gewählten Beispiel schräg verlaufenden - Boden 2 sowie seitlichen Wänden, von denen eine Spülbehälter-Wand 2' in der dargestellten Schnittansicht gezeigt ist, und einer Rückwand. Die Einrichtung zur Bereitstellung des Dampfes weist die vorzugsweise aus Leichtmetall hergestellte gesonderte Dampfkammer 3 mit der integrierten Heizung 8 auf, die - im Beispiel unterhalb des Spülbehälters 1 - mit dem Boden 2 verbunden ist. Die Dampfdüse 5, durch die der Druck des Dampfes zum Einströmen in den Spülbehälter 1 variabel eingestellt werden kann, ist dabei sowohl mit der Dampfkammer 3 als auch mit dem Boden 2 des Spülbehälters 1 gekoppelt. Die Dampfdüse 5 ragt etwas in den Innenraum des Spülbehälters 1 hinein und ist dabei vorzugsweise mit ihren seitlichen Düsenwänden 5 - die zur besseren Befestigung beispielsweise eine L-Form aufweisen - mit dem Boden 2 fest verankert. Sie verfügt an ihrem der Dampfkammer 3 zugewandten unteren Ende über eine Eintrittsöffnung 6', durch die nach dem Wechsel des Aggregatzustands von flüssig zu gasförmig der Dampf in die Dampfdüse 5 eintreten kann, sowie an ihrem dem Spülbehälter 2 zugewandten oberen Ende über vorzugsweise mehrere Düsenöffnungen 6, durch die der Dampf in den Spülbehälter 1 an eine bestimmte Stelle oder Zone 17 - die zur Aufnahme von besonders verschmutztem Spülgut besonders gekennzeichnet und gestaltet werden kann - austreten kann.
