Description

The invention relates to a heat exchange module, in particular for a motor vehicle, comprising at least two heat exchangers, each heat exchanger consisting of a bundle of fluid circulation tubes connected to at least one manifold and which pass through cooling fins common to at least two exchangers of the module.

More specifically, the invention relates to a heat exchange module comprising a plurality of heat exchangers having fluid circulation tubes traversed by the same air flow and cooling fins which have the shape of a rectangle elongated having two elongated sides and two short sides, the fins being common to at least two heat exchangers of the module. Such a module is sometimes also called a "multi-exchanger" since it includes several heat exchangers having a common structural element, here the fins, which ensure the cohesion of the heat exchangers.

Heat exchange modules of this type are already known. US Patent 6,173,766 discloses a heat exchange module consisting of three exchangers, namely a cooling radiator, a condenser and an oil cooling radiator assembled by brazing. T hese exchangers have common cooling surfaces formed by corrugated spacers separated in two heat exchange zones.

Patent DE 100 14 475 similarly discloses a heat exchange module. It consists of two exchangers, namely a cooling radiator and a condenser forming part of the air conditioning circuit. The cooling surfaces, also constituted by. of the corrugated spacers, are common to the two exchangers and divided into two heat exchange zones.

It is known to adapt the dimension, in particular the cross section, of the tubes of a heat exchanger to the nature of the fluid which passes through them. For example, the height of the tubes used for cooling the engine oil and / or the gearbox of the motor vehicle is greater than the height of the tubes used for the cooling radiator. The term "height" here designates the width of the cross section of the tube which is generally oblong, for example rectangular or oval.

In a heat exchange module consisting of several exchangers through which the same air flow passes, it is difficult to adapt the height of the tubes to the nature of the fluids because, for example in document US Pat. No. 6,173,766, the cooling surfaces constituted by corrugated spacers common to all the exchangers have a constant height. The height of the tubes of the first row of tubes is necessarily equal to the height of the tubes of the second row. Therefore, in a heat exchange module where the first row of tubes forms an oil cooling radiator and the second row of tubes forms an engine cooling radiator, it is preferable to oversize the radiator tubes of engine cooling rather than undersizing the oil cooler tubes. Consequently, the size of the radiator is increased. On the other hand, the efficiency of the heat exchange drops.

In a heat exchange module such as that disclosed by document DE 100 14 475, the problem of different tube heights is solved by using cooling surfaces constituted by corrugated spacers of variable height. This solution is complex to implement. Furthermore, even in this case, the spacing pitch of the tubes is the same for all exchangers so that the space requirement of the radiator is not optimized.

Also known, from patent FR n ° 00 02453, a heat exchange module for a motor vehicle in which the common heat exchange surfaces consist of flat fins having cutouts in which the tubes of the exchangers are introduced. However, in a heat exchange module of this type, the tubes which are introduced into the cutouts come from the same heat exchanger, the spacing spacing of the cutouts is constant for all the tubes of this exchanger. The size of the exchangers constituting the module is therefore not optimized.

The present invention relates to a heat exchange module, in particular for a motor vehicle, of the type described above, which overcomes these drawbacks and which, in particular, allows in a simple manner to adapt the height of the tubes of the exchangers of the modulates the nature of the fluid passing through them while optimizing the thermal efficiency of the heat exchange and its size.

This object is achieved, in accordance with the main characteristic of the invention, by the fact that at least two of said module heat exchangers are located on the same elongated side of the fins.

Selon une autre caractéristique de l'invention, le pas d'espacement des tubes de l'un au moins des échangeurs de chaleur est différent du pas d'espacement d'au moins un autre echangeur de chaleur du module .According to another characteristic of the invention, the spacing pitch of the tubes of at least one of the heat exchangers is different from the spacing pitch of at least one other heat exchanger of the module.

Thanks to this characteristic, the tubes whose height is smaller, for example the tubes of the engine cooling radiator, can be more tightened. This results in a reduced size and a better heat exchange between these tubes and the air flow which passes through them. Conversely, the tubes of an oil cooling radiator, whose height is greater, can be spaced apart.

According to the invention it is possible in particular to provide that two heat exchangers, which are received on the same side of the fins, have different respective pitches.

The fins common to the different exchangers of the module can, in a conventional manner, include perforations in which the tubes are introduced. They can also, according to a preferred secondary characteristic of the invention, comprise on one at least of the elongated sides cutouts for receiving the tubes into which the fluid circulation tubes of at least one of the exchangers are introduced.

The fins may also include cutouts for receiving the heat exchange tubes on each of the elongated sides.

Avantageusement, les ailettes comportent des échancrures d' isolation thermique situées entre les tubes des échangeurs .Advantageously, the fins include notches of thermal insulation situated between the tubes of the exchangers.

The heat exchange module of the invention can be assembled by brazing in a single operation or else mechanically.

In a preferred application of the invention, the module comprises, on the one hand, a motor cooling radiator on an elongated side of the fins and, on the other hand, a condenser and an oil cooling radiator on an opposite side of the fins. An optimized module is thus formed which can be used on a motor vehicle. Finally, the invention relates to a cooling fin for a heat exchange module according to the invention.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent on reading the following description of embodiments given by way of illustration, with reference to the appended drawings, in which:

The tubes of the condenser 4 and of the oil cooling radiator 6 are arranged in the extension of one another and constitute a first row of tubes. The tubes of the cooling radiator 2 extend over the entire length of the heat exchange module and constitute a second row of tubes. The first row and the second row of tubes are traversed by the same air flow, the condenser and the cooling radiator being arranged upstream with respect to the direction of flow of the air flow.

The cooling radiator, the condenser and the oil radiator are assembled by means of fins 26 common to the three exchangers. This constitutes a module or "multi-exchanger" formed of three different heat exchangers which share common fins.

There is shown in Figure 2 a plan view of a fin 26 of the heat exchange module according to the invention shown in Figure 1. The fin 26 presents, seen from above, the shape of an elongated rectangle having two parallel elongated sides 28 and 30 and two small parallel sides 32. The elongated side 28 has cutouts 34 for the reception of the tubes 36 of the cooling radiator 2. The cutouts 34 are regularly spaced from one another at a constant spacing pitch PI over the entire length of the long side 28.

The elongated side 30 comprises on its side two types of cut, namely on the one hand cutouts 38 intended for the tubes 40 of the condenser 4 and, on the other hand, cutouts 42 intended to receive the tubes 44 of the cooling radiator 6 The spacing step P2 of the condenser tubes 40 is constant. In the example shown, it is also equal to the spacing pitch PI of the tubes 36 of the cooling radiator 2. On the other hand, the tubes 44 are more spaced than the tubes 40 and the tubes 36 of the cooling radiator. They have a step P3 which is greater than the step P2 and also the step PI.

Furthermore, the height H3 of the tubes 44 of the oil cooling radiator 6 is greater than the height H2 of the tubes 40 of the condenser 4 and that the height H1 of the tubes 36 of the cooling radiator 2. Under these conditions, one of the exchangers, the oil cooling radiator 6 in the example shown, comprises tubes whose spacing pitch P3 differs from the spacing pitch pi, P2 of the other two exchangers. a difference in pitch is thus observed on the same large side of the fins, that is to say on the same large face of the module. In the example shown, the respective tubes of the three exchangers 2, 4 and 6 all have a cross section of substantially rectangular shape, the heights H1, H2 and H3 corresponding, as already indicated, to the width of this cross section. The tubes 36 of the radiator 2 can be a single channel or two channels. The tubes 40 of the condenser 4 and the tubes 44 of the oil cooling radiator 6 are tubes with several channels. There is shown in Figure 3 an alternative embodiment of the fin 26 shown in Figure 2. This fin is intended for a brazed type exchanger. According to this technology, the exchangers are assemblers of a single operation in an oven. In this alternative embodiment, the fins have cutouts on either side of the elongated sides 28 and 30. In addition, the notches 46 for thermal insulation are provided between the tubes 36 and 38 on the one hand, 36 and 44 on the other hand. The notches 46 have the function of preventing a thermal bridge between the cooling radiator 2 and the two other exchangers of the exchange module.

There is shown in Figure 4 a third alternative embodiment of the fin 26 of the exchange module shown in Figure 1. In this variant, the fin 26 has notches 38 for the tubes 40 of the condenser 4 and notches 42 intended for the tubes 44 of the oil cooling radiator 6 on its elongated side 30. On the other hand, the elongated side 28 of the fin 26 does not have notches, but elongated oval perforations 48 in which the radiator tubes are driven perpendicular to the plane of the fin. The tubes therefore have a suitable oval section.

This alternative embodiment is intended for a mechanically assembled heat exchange module. In addition, the thermal insulation notches 46 are also provided between the tubes of the cooling radiator 2 and the tubes of the other two exchangers.

The invention finds a particular application in the automotive field.
