Abstract

The invention relates to the use of a halogen-substituted phenylisothiocyanate of formula (I): in which R1 to R5 respectively are selected independently of one another from the group containing hydrogen, halogen, alkyl and haloalkyl, whereby the halogen is selected from the group containing fluorine, chlorine, bromium and iodine and the alkyl is selected from the group containing methyl, ethyl, n-propyl and isopropyl; with the proviso that at least one of the groups R1 to R5 is a halogen and/or contains a halogen. Said halogen-substituted phenylisothiocyanate is used to obtain derivatives of and/or to identify primary or secondary amines in the sequential analysis of polypeptides.
